Well long story short, my girlfriend and I have found out that we have a bouncing baby on the way, and decided to make a move for the better. I have no family whatsoever in FL now except an uncle on the other coast and a grandmother that lives kinda far away in the most desolate place in the state. So we're springing for CT because she has a lot of family up there.
So my car question: I'm a little worried about my car rusting out... having lived in FL ever since I've been owning cars I'm a bit spoiled as far as car care goes I think. Is rust going to be a big issue on newer cars? My first car was a 1996 sunfire that did not have a single spot of rust ANYWHERE, and my dad's 1997 s-10 was covered in surface rust in the engine compartment and on the undercarriage because he owned it while we lived in NC.
Oh and it's a 2003 in case that makes any difference as far as rust treatment from the factory goes or anything.
Thanks guys!
The last thing I would worry about is rust. I have a 2001 on Long Island, and no rust. I honestly don't think rust is a factor in new cars unless the factory screwed it up.

It depends on the factory coating. My cavalier was a 96 and had one spot of rust on the left rear quarter just from salt buildup in the wheel well. It was real small. My saturn on the other hand. the floor rotted out, the inside of the door had rust. It was a rust bucket and it was a 95. My moms 01 suburban has no rust. My dads 93 buick has very little rust. Ive noticed the gm's dont rust to bad. Now fords on the other hand, all of em got rust. My moms old 95 windstar has tons of rust. the trucks wheel wells rust bad on the bed. So it depends on the coatings.
does that say premium, Oh snap, my membership ran out!

i had a 98 accourd and i sold it this year with 0 rust on it, all of its life was with me in CT so it shouldnt be an issue
Ive lived in CT my whole life, yes the winters can get rough, but my truck saw 2 winters, and my car has seen this past one which was the worse, as long as you wash it maybe like once a week, not a problem we have a bunch of done up cars here and theyre all driven year long and no one has rust. theres an 89 300ZX TT and he has no rust at all, i wouldnt worry at all. Im in Stonington CT ( as far SE as you can go ) if that helps at all
my cavalier is from FL and i live in RI.. it has never seen a winter so i guess im spoiled too. i would a couple things.. a garage if possible, an def park on pavement or cement. some of the worst undercoat rust comes from ppl who park on stones and or grass...car cover wont do much cuz the exterior wont rust. its just the undercarriage u need to watch
FS: 18" RO_JA Formula 5's w/tires..$1150 obo!

What part CT were you planning to move to?
Also, I've had my 97 Cav for 6 years now, no rust and it sees snow every year.

Harwinton/Torrington area... Kinda near Hartford. Sounds good, but I'll have to get in the habit of washing my car more often, and the driveway is gravel
Won't be moving until July though, thanks for the feedback guys!
