Experience with High Rev
Wednesday, June 02, 2004 7:48 AM
Jenny or someone at High Rev, On my invoice (No. 2239; Dtd. 1/20/04; Account Name - Donna Cox) from High Rev Motorsports, I was charged a shipping charge of $140.00. I noticed on the invoice from West Coast Spoilers, the shipping charge was $100.00. Why am I being charged an extra $40.00 when the front bumper was shipped directly to me from West Coast Spoilers? I realize you need to mark-up parts to make a profit (I paid High Rev $250 for the front bumper when the manufacturer's cost which was billed to High Rev was only for $150); however, I feel that shipping, especially if the part is coming directly from the manufacturer to me, should not be marked up.

Thanks in advanced for answering this. We tried calling your office two times some time ago and also left a message but have not recieved a call back. Just thought if you were browsing on here you could help out a little.

Have a good one,
Justin

I didn't think my post was long and outwinded. I know most of the time they frequent the .org so I thought I would post and see if they would answer.

The past times that I called to order parts they were rather responsive in calling me back and leaving messages. Don't get me wrong High Rev is awesome, I got my parts at a good time from past orders, I was just curious about this situation at hand.

Have a good one,
Justin

LMAO! Gotta love companies that make money off of shipping something their hands haven't even touched. Kind of like slimey used car salesman that just play w the numbers to make u think yer getting a good deal.

Sounds like she made ample effort to contact High Rev. I say good job bringing it here.
Jenny Jo and High Rev is a very reputable company... There not going to screw anyone over... especially over $40

Like any business, they are probably just incredibly busy! call again, and she will get back to you. No need to bring stuff like this here...

Number 1. I will let her know you are trying to contact her, so give her another call today and I will make sure she takes care of you....

Number 2. FstCavZ24....you come into chat and talk crap about High Rev and you come into the forums and talk crap about High Rev....stop being so immature and worry about yourself instead of someone elses company.

Number 3 Jenny is VERY VERY busy.....but she will indeed handle your situation....I also know she hardly ever checks these forums anymore....only one who really does is Dauber.

I know I should not post on here but I will TRY to clear some things up.

First off, when you drop ship items the comapny who ships the item for you is NOT suppose to put an invoice in the box. Second, chances are that the company which HIgh Rev ordered the item from told them 140.00 for shipping. The reason for that is because its called SHIPPING and HANDLING! 100 dollars for the shipping and the rest for the BOX and the man HOURS which takes to box up an item. The box, foam, anything which you get your hood or bumper in is NOT free and its NOT cheap by any means at all. I know a body kit box is about 12-20 dollars depending on how many you buy and who you buy it from. Also, the foam which is used is not cheap as well.

I dont think they would do anything like that. I think the company who they ordered it from gave them the higher shipping price just so they can cover there @ss on any other fees such as boxing and what not.

Also, another thing which could have happend is the fact that most every company when they set shipping prices they just pick a price and go from there. For example. I will use summit racing. You order an engine. On there website it says 75 dollars to ship. Now, I am sure if you live in Ohio (summit warehouse) it is going to cost MUCH less then 75 dollars to ship that engine to you. But guess what? You end up paying the 75 dollars. Summit will make a few dollars on the shipping since it cost them less money. Now lets say you live in CA or all the way down in Key West FL... guess what... shipping will be MUCH more then 75 dollars on the engine. Will summit make you pay the difference? NO they will not. They call it a loss and move on. Why? Because from the money they made on the shipping it to Ohio it just brakes even.

Hope all that made sense.

I still say its not High Revs fault. But you can flame me as you wish. Just telling how I see things.

A few thing's
*Some companies charge a drop ship fee of $25 dallors just to send it direct to the customer.
*Body kit boxes are shipped truck freight, not all freight services have a location near you, therefore another company will pick it up and split the cost.

140 is pretty cheap for a bumper to be shipped. Chances are that is the price that High Rev paid for it to be shipped and west coast made a few extra bucks on it. I know I get stuff in all the time that has a reciept for shipping to be way lower than what I actually paid to have it shipped here. I wouldnt blame high rev, chances are it wasnt their fault and they paid $140 to have it shipped to you.

^^ now that I think about it, the above would be true only if the reciept showing 100 was from the freight service. If it's the actual WCS reciept that was supposed to go to high rev, look's like they made $140 off a bumper.
That's the way I took it.
Karo is exactly correct. I couldn't have said it any better. Thanks, Karo!

We are charged a flat rate for truck freight shipments, and pass that truck freight rate on to our customers. For example, for West Coast, we are charged $140 for a single bumper and $150 for a full kit. We simply pass those charges along to the customer. For Andy's Auto Sport, yet another example, we are charged $134 for shipping (no matter what it is) plus a $15 drop ship fee. We charge the customer $150 I believe.

The receipt showing $100 was probably the freight company's charge to West Coast (or that portion of the frieght company's bill). There's no way to ever really know. West Coast doesn't tell their distributors how much they pay for shipping, because we would then be asking the same question that Justin asked.

Justin, if you have any further questions, please call me at 309-263-5900 and I can speak with you about it further if you wish.

Thanks again, Karo, for explaining things in detail. And thank you to everyone else for your support!

Sincerely,

Jenny Dubinsky
