I don't mean to offend here, but this is starting to turn from an announcement into spam.

Is there some prize for having the most registrants with your type of car? You're making it sounds like some sort of competition. Why should we care if there are more Neons than Cavaliers?

I appreciate that you've got a number of spots left to fill, but do you really want people signing up just for the sake of driving up the numbers? That's how you end up with mostly stock or badly modded cars that your paying customers don't want to see anyway.

Also... if that sounded a bit harsh, it wasn't meant to be. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here but want to ensure we don't end up off to a bad start. You seem like a decent guy. You just have to understand that we're very strict about advertising here and if you're not paying for the privilage then anything beyond an FYI post is pretty much out of the question.

The only reason this is still in the General forum is because we appreciate the fact that the Detroit Autorama show is a major national event or it would long ago have been moved to either the regional or events forums.

Hmmmm, sorry if I offended anyone, just trying to offer J-Body community a chance to be part of this event. As past Product Specialist for the GM Tuner Tour, I know there are some choice J-Bodies out there owned by some pretty cool people.

As for the call out for cars, just a little "friendly competition" as it seems like nearly every call I get from either J-Body owners or Neon owners asked "How Many (fill in the blank) are entered?

There is a $500 cash award paid to the Best Club Display, and if we have 4 or more from the J-Body.org crew parked together, they would be eligible for this award.

BTW...there is no shortage of High Quality cars. We have at least ten Magazine Cover cars and some incredible stuff from 6-7 differant states and Canada including 5 entrants coming in from Florida.

It is all about having as much FUN as possible and putting on the highest quality show possible. My desire is to make AutoRama Extreme the "Highlight" of this years AutoRama. If anyone has any questions or suggestions to help make this part of Detroit AutoRama a huge success, please let me know. I can be reached my e-mail bashton@autorama.com or by cell phone 586-549-5291.

Thanks!

Well that's the ticket.

I wasn't offended or anything. Just keeping everyone playing by the same rules.

There will be THREE seperate classes and Ian Laceys Cavi will be featured in the Import Tuner magazine display. (Yeah...I know it is not an Import!)

We have eclipsed the 100 vehicle mark in the Tuner section with cars and bikes from 6 differant states and Canada. (-:

Thanks to all who signed up and let me Personally Invite evryone else to come on down and check this new addition to the Detroit AutoRama March 4-6, 2005.

Just got home last night from Denver. Supposed to snow pretty decent tonight and tomorrow. Guess I better try and wash the car as early as I can today...

Man, back in Denver it was 50 and Sunny the whole time. Not 20 and depressing here.

(I live in Kalamazoo) Wish I could attend
but I have NO trailer. & I sure ain't driving this car up there in the snow that's here
right now now. Fiberglass + 18 Inch wheels + snow = BAD NEWS...
We're really getting hammered with this snow right now. Forecast is for over 10 more
inches.

Got the car down there this morning without any issues. Nice and sunny and dry today so the roads were pretty nice. (except the pot holes...) I did, however, notice quite a few old cars down in "Autorama Extreme". And the ones down there weren't even the nicer ones. They looked like half completed cars. Now I kind of feel like we were just thrown down stairs to get out of everyone's hair upstairs. Hopefully that feeling changes when I go back later tonight and tomorrow and the show is more set-up.

Ian, the other cars in the Michigan Hall are called "Traditional Rods". In the 50's, teenagers and guys in their early twenties would buy old Model T's and 30's cars and turn them into drag racers, they were often unpainted or in primer as the kids were mainly interested in going fast. The cars in Michigan Hall are modeled after those cars.

There are two interests in the age group of young men 18-30. Tuner Cars and "Traditional Rods". You are all blazing a very cool trail because you are the future of AutoRama, if you dont participate now and eventually take over the spots, the whole thing will fade away as the old guys upstairs fade away.

I know its difficult to understand but what you are participating is truly groundbreaking in the history of motorsports and AutoRamas and I would like to say Thank You for participating. Lets get more and more Tuners to participate and then take over upstairs someday - OK? Vicki Ashton (Bobs wife)

I went to view the show tonight.
Autorama Extreme????
More like Autorama Junkyard Extreme.

I guess its my fault I thought that when it was said "two distict sections; one devoted to "Traditional" hot rods and the other for the TUNER crowd" I thought that meant traditional 'Autorama' cars and newer tuner cars downstairs

Junk is junk no matter what excuse you make for it. I would have been insulted if I had been asked to put my car anywhere near the scrap heaps in that room.

I wouldn't mind having my cars parked next to them. Those vehicles represent a time of Automobile modding history.
