If you got cash in your hand, who the hell cares? Cash and a signed reciept of sale and you'll be just fine.

Not entirely true. Then you have to trust the person to actually go to the DMV in their state and change the title over to their name. You keep it in your name and you sign with their name on there but you don't go to the DMV to have it all changed then the car is still in your name. Then if they decide to rob a store or junk it somewhere, then since the car is under your name, they will come looking for you. If that car gets impounded and the title is still in your name then they will come after you.
That person needs to come down themselves, sign the title, go to the DMV and then come back and show you that they signed it over to their name and registerd it. Do not ever let a car go like that unless you truely trust someone. Wich in this case you do not entirelly.

^^^ u can't get tags unless you transfer the title I think you'd be ok even if that far-fetched scenario happens, they'd be running w/ either no tags or stolen tags. Plus a cavy on three cylinders isn't a good getaway car lol

Yah that is what I am saying. You don't need plates for that car to drive around. You just need to put some on the car and that is it. Then take them off and dump the car one day. It happend to me. Not to far fetched. Car was dumped in the middle of the street one day and I had to pay an impound fee of 400. I told them they can keep the car cause I sold it already and they told me it don't work that way LOL. So I ended up pulling some strings and got it resolved but if you got no strings to pull your just hanging.

Just so you know, a bill of sale is all you need to prove the car was sold, even if they did dump it somewhere, or like in my case, ran it into a pole and bolted, they can not come after you for any damages or charges.

I get those emails all the time, saying they want to buy my car and they will send someone to pick it up, One time someone called me.

If your email looks like this, ITS A SCAM, the money orders are FAKE!!!

Keep in mind, my van is a piece of JUNK, its being sold as a parts car, and he want to ship it to the UK!!!!

Hello,
I Saw your ads @ craigslist,My name is Alix Schondra, one of my client has just recently placed a quote on your type of car but i still need you to email more picture he informed me that the payment will be remmited through Money order.i am certify with the price $300In order to conclude the deal as soon as possible, the money order that will be sent to you will be $3500include the money for the sales of your car and the shippers fees for organising a home pick up service from your base down to its new origin. You do not need to worry as my shipping company will come to pick the car up from your base for shipment to Uk. What I want to clarify is that will you be able to send the shipping charges to the shipping agent via Western Union Money Transfer method as soon as you get and cash the money order and you deduct the money for the sales of your car If you agree to assist in this capacity, send your full name, your address and phone numbers for the payment to be issued and sent to you.
Best Regards,
Alix.....

Write a bill of sale. Get it notarized. Not your problem what they do with the car.
