SOUNDSPEED read save yourself...
Tuesday, May 17, 2005 11:46 AM
ok well i went to sound speed in FEBUARY2005 looking to get a full custom kit installedand modded and molded. well i talked to them over 2 weeks about 10 times getting a price and working out everything i wanted this is what i came up with:
-buddyclub rear and installed
-drift sides modded cut the pieces off that go up the doors and mold them to the car
-sunfire type-2 front bumper
-cavalier buddy club front
and take bother the front bumpers and mold them together
so its a buddy club front for a sunfire

ok well we worked out a price i paid for it and everything. set a date for it to come into sound speed on MAY 17TH well today came i arrived to give them the car and first thing they say to me "yah we cant take your car " so i was like why? and they said they are to busy and they wont be able to have my car done for the time i wanted witch was 5 days.
so i was like ok well what if you just do the front bumper and i will take the other stuff to another shop and they are like no you cant. so i made another apoint ment to get it to go in again which is on June 1st.

so i got home and thought about it abit and then i desided @!#$ it and i am just goin to go get the kit and do it all myself and save some money... well i called sound speed and they tell me they sold one of my fronts and they dont have it anymore and i am goin to have to wait till next tuesday to get another one.

let me tell you what a run around this place is I WORN ALL OF YOU NEVER GO THERE
this place is so @!#$ty they @!#$ with you car...
everyone is saying how they changed a bit and stuff they havent at all they are still the same place and are goin to jurk you all around

ok well if any of you want to help me out or give me a GOOD RELIABLE body shop to get my kit done please let me know.

They should learn what an "appointment" means, if they had one set up with you.

Not like it's spur of the moment and yer being unreasonable. You set the damn thing up months ago.

Exactly, if you had an appointment, they should have held to that appointment, especially since you already paid for everything. It's not like you weren't going to pay them until after, that I MIGHT be able to understand. But since you've already paid for everything, they should have upheld their end of the deal.... and selling your stuff..... THAT is EFFED up!!!

Good Luck

wow man, that kinda sucks. If it wasn't paid for already then fine, but since you alrady paid for it, that really blows...fine they can't get the job done, okay..but selling YOUR bumper was just wrong.

if thats the case orange, that shows extremley poor business skills to put a customer on hold who had scheduled a time and allready paid to work on one of their own cars. thats extrenly poor businesss skills.

i dont see an issue with rescheduling to do being backed up. but they should be smart enough to know a week ahead of time that they wouldnt be ready for his car and should have called to change the dates. and if they couldnt meet the customers date, they should have been willing to refund you money. i'd bet that legally they have no right to hold your money, u paid for materials and services they dont have. heck they sold your bumper. that right there would constitute theft in my book. u paid them for materials and they sold your materials.

i would get my money back and find yourself a real company. this company doesnt care about you as a customer, so why should you support them and their horrible business practices.

Have you been to soundspeed's shop? I guess you missed the 9 cars waiting to have work done on them. Granted you had an appointment, but they are busier than they thought they would be. No business would turn away work unless they couldn't handle it, at least they didn't start on your car and stop halfway saying they're too busy. This is the peak season for most performance shops, especially ones that DO custom work on cars, not jus slap on kits to every car. Way to go telling the whole world that the shop is busy. As for selling your bumper, that's wrong.

Obviously they couldn't handle it if they missed his appointment...

thats why custom work should all be done by yourself. my car goes to the shop for paint... kit installation and custom work is done by myself or people i know.

Soundspeed is junk anyway. The fibreglass is crap, and won't fit 100% no matter how much time you spend on it.

I bought a drift front, type 2 rear, and type 3 sides from them. The type 3's wouldn't fit at all... no matter what I did to them. The type 2 rear sagged, and they didn't include the metal support they were supposed to. Even with a really wide one (much bigger than the one they would have provided) it never sat right. The front had so many holes in the gelcoat, and was really flimsy right outta the box. I also bought Z3 fenders.. the body shop said 6 hours EACH to make them look right, so that I could put a pearl over the paint and have it not look like crap.

I spent close to 50 hours trying to fix all the mistakes in that kit... what a waste of money. Buy quality stuff to begin with and save yourself the trouble. There's a reason their kits are so cheap... you'll pay twice as much at the body shop fixing all the mistakes.

granted if they have 9 cars lines up waiting for work, somebody at the shop should be smart enough to know they can't work on his car, and to take 5 minutes, call the guy on the phone and make a new appointment.

that my friend is just bad business. if a company doesnt feel im important enough to just make a single phone call. they they must not think my money is important.

i also agree with linko's post, by a quality kit to begin with and installation becomes tons easier.

I've had no problems with Soundspeed. They always email me back promptly. One of the guys actually pulled of a stock bumper and put the bumper i wanted on this car he had there so I can see the fitment.

My front (drift) and rear (type 2) fit almost perfect. The sides were more of a challenge (drift) but they warned me before hand. Fiberglass doesn't always fit perfect, and i'm sure everyone knows that.

They have been very helpful to me. Sorry about the bad luck tho. I guess it happens sometimes... unfortunatly..

I got my kit from sound speed and it was crap. the fiberglass was see thru for one. One of the sideskirts was like 4 inches to short, the front was the worst tho..

JERRY: I don't think you do. If you did, I'd have a car. See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation and that's really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them.

I recently got a kit from soundspeed, and I can say the fitment couldnt have been much better other than the sides, which were contracted out to another shop. I've heard all the horror stories from them but never had the same experiences.
