WTF, so it was wild I placed in. I didn't expect to win anything so I was kinda day-dreaming during the awards. My entry card thing says i'm in class 4, but I noticed that was already filled by Kevin.
I'm still confused to all end about getting 3rd...i'm guessing they considered mine a "headlight conversion"?

You can't argue over a UC class. None of the cars are show-worthy and none really deserve an award so who really cares who wins it?

I've been to several shows where they re-work the classes on the day of the show and generally, it's for the best. If there are 30 Cavaliers in the wild class but only 3 in stock class, then it makes sense to introduce a street class to break them up a bit. It gives everyone a better shot at competing against cars similar to their own.

Most of the people in a Under Construction class usually have their car fully primered, and havent had a chance to it painted. Actually you can argue, all judges base everything on how clean the car is and everything lines up body wise, sure you cant agrue about the condition of the paint cause there is non, that is why they get the lowest point under paint quality.

As for the classes we had 7 classes alone for Cavaliers Stock, Street (2), Mild (2), Wild (2). I thought the classes we had were quite good this year. At regstration I love to over hear people say to their buddies yah I got wheels, exhaust, body kit...yah I'm going into stock, either that or people with lambo doors going into street. Aint going to happen, judges will move them. People will do anything to try a win a trophy.

for everybody saying "so and so shouldnt have placed" or "i should have placed" or "i cant believe i placed"... i think the judges were strickly looking for cleanliness. because i placed in class 8th and probably beat several cars that i will honestly admit are better than mine. its simply because i had my car shining brighting then the sun itself. i mean hell they were even checking uncarages as if we had them chromed or something... so i wouldnt fret too much if you didnt place the way you wanted to, because it all came down to whos car was the cleanest. and by clean i mean free of dirt, not "clean looking".

They couldn't check my undercarriage!

Lot of crazy judging went on, how Casey placed in the street category, over Kevin alone I do not understand. That was another car that should have been in UC. How Steve beat out a car with suicide doors, I also do not understand. The UC category is ALWAYS a category of debate.

After a few events prior to the show, I felt like @!#$ about my car, dusted it off, tireshined some things, then walked away. After I won third I felt bad due to my halfass attempt at cleaning it, but that's how it goes.

Talk about category confusion. I went from Sunfire Mild, to Sunfire Stock, to Sunfire Mild then finally Sunfire Street which I placed 1st in.

^^^He's right about cleanliness. Casey's car must have been cleaner than mine.
No hard feelings, though. I'm just glad I finally took home a Trophy after 5 years
worth of Bashes trying to get one.

I don't thinkg cleanliness had that much to do with it, my car was completely spotless, exterior, interior, engine bay, trunk everything, I thought I would have placed in mild but to be honest I really don't car, nice weather, nice cars, nice people, thats what the bash is about not who took what trouphy and whos geting sandy cause they didn't win.

As for the judging I can't really say anythign about it, during the awards I only cogonized like 3 poeple so I don't knwo what cars won what hahah

Re: Bash Winners (please add)

As far as my car was concerned, in my opinion, cleanliness is what won me the trophy. My car was literally clean from top to bottom; wheel wells, undercarriage, engine, interior, exterior, everything. When you compare my car to the two that took second and first place (Godspeed and Evansville J-Body, respectively) it's obvious it came down to cleanliness with my car. Their cars have aftermarket wheels, are lowered, have minor engine mods, etc. where as the only major mod I have is an exhaust system. I am by no means complaining, in fact it makes me feel really good to know that my basically stock car was that clean that they chose it along with the other two. In my opinion judging is based a lot on cleanliness. At last year's Bash the judges even told us to open everything up (the gas door, spare tire compartment, glove box, sunroof, center console, etc.) to show how clean everything was. That right there should show how much they pay attention to cleanliness. You could have the nicest car, but if it's dirty it's going to look like crap. Just my .02 though.

Third Place Winners
Entry #16 -- Bryan Detty -- 2004 z24 Chevrolet Cavalier
Second Place Winners

Ahahahahahaha I won a trophy with my Wifes car lol

Re: Bash Winners (please add)

not only cleanliness but how well a mod was done. ive seen cars with 4 perfectly done mods. beat cars with 8 half assed mods. the aftermarket part isnt as important as how well it is installed on the car.

and lets also not forget that two cars can go two diffrent shows and win or not win. there is some subjectivity involved. and to enjoy shows you have to realise this and go to enjoy the show and not the 10$ trophy you get at the end

. there are shows ive won that i didnt enjoy as much as other shows that i didnt even place at.

^^^ Exactly You know I have tried to explain that to people but they get their panties up in a bunch and blame it on the "larger Car Clubs" Petty if you ask me.

Sndsgood: You pretty much hit it on the head. Basically your mods are what put you into a class, and thats it. What gets you wins is quality, design, and number 1 how clean the car is, and I'm not talking just a good wash. Many of you don't realize that you are judged in on undercarrage engine, and even your trunk on how clean it is.

One good example of why it matters to clean things like these is Garys Sunfire (John 317), First of all his car was clean top to bottom, second just about everything under that car was powered coated, jet hot coated, platted or polished, (including a fully polished tranny) and he drove about 800 miles to the bash. If you didn't even bother to wash the undercarrage and engine you can't even expect to have a chance with cars like Gary's no matter what you have done or modified on you car (because remember, once your in your class mods don't matter any more!)

It's the details that count and being clean is the biggest detail.

Later,
Skinny J
