My thoughts of the bash
Wednesday, July 13, 2005 6:07 PM
I have to say ,I now know why Brian enjoyed going to these so much.Believe me when I say that it was probably the first time I was able to do something Brian loved and not get down.He and I fished a lot together and when I went this year it was really hard.Being with all his friends and then being around the rest of you ..... I don't know I guess I felt him with me and it made me happy.B really knew how to have fun, just like many of you.Brian had his daughter when he was 19 and that was a lot of responsibility to throw on a kid.He took it in stride and gave her all the love any father could give.He loved her first ,His car second. Then he loved to have fun.Just ask any of his Gateway buds.I really enjoyed meeting the guys from Montreal . They stayed at our hotel. We kind of partied with the people I came with from the Gateway group so we didn't get to meet too may of the other clubs. If there is a next year I'm going to try to meet more people. Many of you have said you didn't know Brian.I have a web site @ brian-klocke.memory-of.com and maybe it will help you know what kind of man he was.
When I gave out his award I could have given it to any number of people in the Gateway group. They have all helped me so much.Hell I could have given it to all of them. I have to tell this story but when I do I still get chills. The day of the funeral, when the hearse went by the parking lot, all the people from Gateway revved their cars in a salute to Brian. All I can say is if heaven is far away I know he heard it all.It sounded like the Indy 500.
I want to thank all that stopped by Brian's car and if I was there listened to me talk about my best friend.I hope they do a story on Brian's car on Tuner Tv he would have loved it.
Anyway I had a good time, I hope we have the opportunity to do it again.

I miss ya B
Love Dad

Take care.

I'm really glad you were able to make it out Greg, speically with Brians car. If it was me I dont think I could have been able to load it on the truck. To me that is why I think we selected gave you the Committies Choice Award this year. That takes really guts to do that. I cant wait to see it with the new engine here soon.

the memorial was really nice to see there, and the awards ceremony was really touching.

The Grandpa thuggin you were doing is hilarious....

Except when you pulled your pants down and then again when....well....i was sitting under the tent and the damn thing flew away.....Good thing Ben was there helping me chase after it....

Regardless....I didnt know Brian very well, but if it werent for him, Sarah would have never got into JBodies....I would have never met her, I would have never met you,BWall, Jeff and his bad gas, or Erin, Ryan, or my good buddy Brandon....

Thanks for kind of....accepting me.....you guys rock, and I will definately try to make some Gateway meets...

So thanks....Hope to see ya again soon, Ill be at NOPI in STL If your going....

I am glad you came. It really touched me to steer B's car off and on the trailer. It was touching to think of him driving it and then us being able to sit in the same place as him and touch all he the stuff he touched. Kinda felt connected to him in a way. I think you are a very brave and strong man and father to bring out his car even though it wasnt the way you wanted it at the time. I am glad you had a good time. I had a blast watching you mimic Teske with the sideways hat and sunglasses.

I didnt know Brian at all but it was kind of sad and almost brought a tear to my eye while I was looking at his car.. It was weird the car was there knowing that the owner had passed on.. Glad I got to see it.. Take care.

that's exactly....it overwhelmed me to see his car there. It made me sit and take a time out and realize...there's so much more to life then we know. Brian was lucky to make the most of his life before he was taken from us prematurely. Seeing how you've treated this...knowing the father he came from now, he could be nothing short of a truly great man and father. My thoughts are still with him to this day even though I never once met the guy.

I think the whole speech at the awards ceremony touched a lot of people, it really hits home to realize how much you've lost Greg, and I doubt I felt even the gist of it. At the same time it felt good to look around, and see everyone almost in tears, knowing what a community we're surrounded by, and knowing these same people brought you to share your story.

Very glad you made it out this year, props to you and the surrounding J members who helped make it all possible.

I didn't know Brian at all. From what I'm hearing I wish I had a chance to meet him. I had to fight back tears at the bash when this award was given out.

greg> I didn't get to make it to the bash this year... but I wanted to take a moment to commend you for what you did for your son. It must have been a hard thing to do,... bringing his car there and everything. I never met him, but I can almost guarantee that he is up there smiling from ear to ear. I had also looked at the memorial site, and seen you said you'd hope to bring it to the bash next year, with a motor. You are a wonderful person, and I'd only hope that if something ever happened to me, someone would make my car the way I'd have wanted it and bring it to the bash... that to me would be a great honor... as I'm sure your son is thinking the same. God bless you and your family!

greg is my new hero............... i hope that if i were to pass young like brian unfortunatly did.... that my parents would do the same thing for me.......................but knowing them............ thats extra spending money sitting in the driveway

but yeah it is nice to see a father following through and trying to get his sons car done and take it to the shows that meant a lot to him.....that there tells you that there was a very strong fulfilling connection between father and son.............. a trait that seems to becoming more and more uncommon

Greg, I'm sorry for your loss, but I am glad you chose to keep Brian's dream alive. Up until this moment, I had thought I never had a chance to meet Brian. But after visiting the Memorial site, I realise I did. A couple of times actually. (I think I have video from past bashes with him in it..........) I look forward to seeing his car, and his family at future events.

...... and why was I not informed that BWall was in attendance?
