Ok look inside the Seats are Toyota Lether Seats and the Stearing wheel is I belive leather also. Look at the door panels where our cloth part is there you see it leather also.

You add the trunk liner and add the bottom part of the trunk wich was added I don't know if it is on the TRD.

The Fenders and Tailights are also diffrent.

ok so 98% of the car is still made at the GM plant.

At our GM plant we Buld the Chevy Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainer, Saab 9-7x and Issuzu Assender. If all of those SUV's were built at the same plant by the same people. Why is it that the GMC Envoy, Buick Rainer, Saab 9-7x has way higher Quality ratings then the Chevy Trailblazer because the parts that were used are better Quality. Way better Quality. And yes that makes a big diffrence.

I WORK FOR CHEVROLET. every single piece of a Toyota Cavalier can be bought right here in the U.S. Toyota never ever built any Cavalers they never modified any either.
They installed a body kit thats all! I bought my 99 Toyota Cavalier tail lights from my
work, they came came in from Lansing Michigan Not Japan. Why do you guys insist on
stuff that I know is not correct because I work for the freakin company that built the cars. Yes the TRD cavaliers are neet cars but they are not any different from any other
Toyota Cavalier other then the kit. If the kit cars were limited run cars ok fine but you can buy the parts seperatly sooo. As for importing them the only thing that takes a ton of money is getting them to pass the federal transportation laws for safty but since
these were also sold in this country and BUILT here they would have to pass such tests right from the manufacturer like your regular Chevy Cavalier does that you drive every day.

And the import fees are not that high I have a friend of mine owns a company called Dolphin sea containers he does import and export of cars and all kinds of stuff if you would like I can see if he can get me the exact rate to import one from New Zealand
where they have plenty of them. Now once you get it here it does sit for like 6 months in a customs quarenteen area then its all yours.

i wanna buy it and convert it to straight up usdm. left hand drive, american letters. all that stuff so all the japanese guys will be uber jealous.....

im not a big fan of the whole jdm hoopla. but im at least smart enough to know that if u have a car that is 1 out of 50 made. then its going to be worth more. thats not rocket science. hell theres beanie baby dollls that sell for hundreds of dollars. and certain rare star wards figures that are worth close to a grand. it has nothing to do with how much u think its worth, but how much the public it willing to pay.

Z24 your right about the quality thing. The poor quailty of the Toyota Cavalier along with its high cost to maitain it is way its no longer sold. Talk to a few people in other countries who actualy own these cars and when you hear what these guys are dealing with you'll feel bad for them. Parts for these cars are way high over seas.

And Sndsgood I realize people love this car, thats cool I think its a neet car too. I just
don't think I'd pay that kind of money for it thats all I was saying. I also said I wish anyone here in the org. good luck in trying to get it. I'm not an ass, realy, I swear I just
think its too much money for a cavalier thats all. If you want it great I hope you can aford it and once you get it I hope its everything you ever wanted in a car. I won't say
one bad thing to you. But in my opinion its too much money.

Ha ha, typical. Another GM employee who thinks he knows it all.

Fine then, big guy. Order yourself a set of folding mirrors from the Lansing, Michigan warehouse and tell me what language the text on them is. Trust me, you'll be surprised.

I'll tell you this, they're not made by Meridian, who made your taillights (and mine too... btw). I've done a @!#$load of research into who made what and where for these cars. No, I don't work for GM. No, I don't have a life either.

I've noticed one thing tho Jackalope... regardless of whether you know the answer or not, you sure post a lot. Even if it adds nothing constructive to the post. Maybe you need to go find a life (I'm not one to suggest where to do that, as I have no life either). Just my two cents.

I can't afford the car.. but if I could, I'd buy it. Just to have something no one else in North America does.

Yes I know that they Lansing, Michigan Warehouse is the Only GM Warehouse that has the taillights. Because well buddy I will tell you what you are not the only one that has those Taillights and you are not the only one that works for GM.

But I am talking about my experienses on actually building the products on the line and not just selling the parts. Why is it that there is diffrent quality scores sometimes with major diffrences by diffrent brand models (example GMC, Buick, Saab, Chevy, Pontiac, Isuzu, Toyota) that are built in the Same Plant. Because we use diffrent parts that even come from Diffrent suppliers. There is even a Delphi plant that had to put a department in a satelite building to keep the employees away from the main building because they had diffrent quality controls wouldn't you know they were making suspenison parts for Toyota. LOL

But I would admit I don't know where exactly where the Toyota seats and stearing wheel and other interior pieces of the Toyota Cavalier are made. If they are made at the same as the Cavalier and Sunfire or not.

Maybe just Maybe there Quality check is diffrent from Toyota Cavaliers then the Chevy ones. I know at my Plant the Saab 9-7x gets extra speacial attention brought to them with quality inspections, And the interior is far superior.

Just for FYI on the JBO we have had our fair share of know it alls that work at Dealerships that are eighter salesmen, and or parts people. We even had this one Salesman try to tell us the reason that the Cobalt SS was delayed is becasue GM was making it a Rear Wheel Drive. LMAO

Why would Toyota keep 5 year old stuff on their website? Think about it.

Yea, so did I. I ordered 3 sets of tail lights while I worked there...... matter of fact, the second set of 96-99 tails, 2 lenses came from JAPAN cause MI was out of them. Those where some fancy letters on the box when it showed up.

The power folding mirrors, and wiring for them...... 100% NOT GM....... just look at the wiring....... 100% TOYOTA. I've also worked for a company that adds aftermarket parts to vehicles, and I've delt with the Toyota wiring........ only other car close is the Hyundai..... Hell, the relay, sure you can get it from GM...... but it's going to come in a TOYOTA BOX...... cause thats where they get the parts from.

so you spewing all that crap, is OLD news...... like 4-5 years old....... and until you've sat in one, shut your pie hole.

Jackalope - after reading all of your post let me answer some of your points.

1. Yes you could have bought TOYOTA Cavalier parts from GM but not ANYMORE! well you still can what they have left in stock and thats not alot! WHY? Well it comes down to copy right! Toyota owns the rights to the Toyota Cavalier even though its a GM Cavalier, Toyota owns them years and that make for exported cars! So GM gave Toyota all the MOLDS, extra parts, ext..

2. If your friend works/owners a importing company and you know he can do this stuff then why dont you have one or something like skyline? Dont think i am coming off like a jerk but look at it by my point. I am so SICK of hearing how this person can get this or that. I hear it all the time about the Toyota Cavalier parts we have for sell @ Street-line.net.

3. This car is 100% JDM even that it was made in the USA it was made for Exporting to Japan and finds the JDM spec.

4. For the kit this kit on this car is 100% TRD no fake boot leg!!!! this is the real thing!! ENOUGH SAID ON THAT!

After all of this and read all of this, I see why I personaly more and more are starting to get into Nissan's to get away from all of this "I know more then you (or) I can get one" Well if this is so TRUE I'm still wait till this day to see someone come up with one!!

Once again sorry don't take this as attack but I'm so sick of how people know it all and how they can do it. I went to the Bash with this car to show everyone that we back up everything we do and what we bring in!

Re: WOW check it out

I just lost my intire last post we had a power surge at work. God I hate this! but hated one i'll adress some of your things you said because you know how to compose yourself without making yourself look like an ass.

1. Yes you can still buy some parts from G.M. I have a list of the prices and availibility of some of these parts and if anyone would like any info feel free to ask. It doesn't so much have to do with copy rights as it does with the fact that these were export cars.

2.The biggest problem with importing somthing like a Skyline that was never sold in this country is dealing with all the safty requirements set forth by the federal transportation and safty admin. So something like a Skyline would cost alot more then a cavalier cause of the parts that you can't regularly get here. He mostly deals with Jags from England cause you can get stuff here for them.

3.JDM means Japanise Domestic Model so a car that was imported by definition cant be a JDM car cause its not built there.

4.I see what you mean on the kit but thats about it.

I said the car is cool but I just can't see spending that kind of money on a used car.
Show car or not. And no I don't think this is an attack on me for the simple reason
that you know how to ask a question without the need to name call like some people here.

And I never made a knock against the company selling the car I understand they are in the business to make money not do charity work. I have spoken to them before and they seem like nice enough people to me so I wish them all the luck in the world in selling there car.

If anyone is interested in any part numbers or the availibility of them feel free to ask.

Guys I never said I know it all. But what I do know please don't tell me I don't.
Speedy yes the wireing is 100% G.M. so are the mirrors.

wireing harness 22626407 $764.82 5 left in lansing

anything else there speed racer?

Nfamous z I thought I said I agreed about the quality being different. This is the #1 reason the toyota cavalier is no longer built. read some of the reviews on these wonderful cars that apparently you or your friends built and then get back to me as to how great they are.

Lastly Mr. Lenko I'll adress you. DUH! of corse its not writen in english its an export
only piece!! Now since you don't understand what this means i'll explain it to you.
ITS NOT MEANT TO BE SOLD IN THIS COUNTRY!! THATS THE REASON ITS HARD TO GET IT HERE!!
Its sad you have no life, I am sorry and you have my pity. I however do have a life, it involves work my family and my friends. some of which happen to post here. I get to
sit around all day in between my customers and play on-line so whats the big deal about this? Sounds like you have issues that need work and your trying to qualifiy
yourself by trying to bring me down as well. Sorry didn't work.

All I said in my 1st post was this is expensive for a used cavalier now I'm being forced to defend myself against people who think this is the end all be all of cars. Well I hate to burst your bubble but its not. Its nice and true it does have some rare parts on it I'm not disputing that fact. But I wont be entering a bid on it, however if you chose to then
by all means I wish you luck and I'll be amoung the first to shake your hand and congratulate you on your new car. But don't expect me to be jelious.

jackalope (or jackass, I'm not certain anymore),

No one said it was the end all be all of cars. If anything, it's the end all be all of stock Cavaliers, but that's about it.

No one cares that you have access to part numbers or availability. I have all the part numbers too. In fact, there's a thread somewhere on JBO that lists pretty much all of them, all the way down to the RHD dash pieces for those who really desire to convert their LHD Chevy Cavalier to a RHD one. That is, if they're stupid enough to buy the parts brand new from GM, instead of from Street Line.

Here's the deal on the mirrors. When the Toyota Cavalier was built on the line in Lordstown, Ohio, they were made with regular break-away mirrors. Upon arrival in Japan, Toyota's Technocraft division outfit them with folding mirrors. Some were manual folding (very few, at that) and the rest (most of them) were power folding. I believe it was the first year (1996) of the sedans that could be found with manual folding mirrors, but I'm not sure on that. The folding mirrors WERE NOT MADE by GM. If you think they were... I seriously suggest you order a set and prove me wrong. The boxes alone will prove I'm right.

Every single part on the Toyota Cavalier has regular Chevy casting numbers (from Meridian in Michigan.. since you work for GM, I'm sure you know that they make all the plastic injection molded parts, right?).... EXCEPT for the mirrors. They have Toyota symbols on them, and the text is all Japanese. Other than decals under the hood, and manuals, etc... there isn't a single bit on the Toyota Cavalier that is in Japanese. Even the Toyota badges were made by Meridian... and have Chevy numbers on them. I had a great time, picking up Toyota symbols in a GM parts bag from the local dealership.

Last but not least... you may work for GM, but like most of the techs and salesmen I have to deal with... YOU DON'T KNOW AS MUCH AS YOU THINK YOU DO.

/end rant

Jackalope; Good, calm response to all the crap you have been taking over this post. I must agree with you.

Even when brand new, a 1998 Z24 loaded was just a little over $18,000. After many years, the value of a vehicle goes down. It doesn't start to increase in value until about 20 years old. This is true for rare and common place models.
Yes, the leather interior is nice, if you like leather. IMO the wing could go. To pay $25,000 for a "rare" Cavalier and it is only 8 years old, I sure wouldn't and won't be. If I wanted a car to have Japanese writing on it, I would have bought a Japanese made car.

John I'm not here to make enemies this is the internet calm down man. geez! I know
the mirrors have Jap writing on them and yes the numbers and prices I listed are for the Jap spec parts that were indeed made by G.M. not Toyota. The U.S. spec cars have parts that anyone can buy but in order to get the ones I've listed you need a vin number as I have already said. And true I don't know it all John but it would appear that in this case I do know more then you do. All you've proven so far is the old saying about a little knowledge being a dangerous thing is completly true. I have no doubt you mean well but please I do deal with G.M. parts everyday and have done so for several years now in fact I've worked in the parts industry now for almost 10 years in one form or another. And I do almost on a weekly basis deal with several customers from over seas ( England, Scottland, New Zealand ) Know a thing or two about export parts since I do in fact export them.

Please tell me you didn't put Toyota badges on a Chevrolet Cavalier thats left hand drive
if you did then .

Gah, I give up.

I could care less about friends or enemies. I just try to stop the spread of misinformation, but apparently that ain't gonna work. That's it, I'm throwing in the towel. You win, big shot. Congratulations!

Even though I have a brand new set of the mirrors here, and they arrived in a box that came from Japan... I guess I'm full of @!#$. I must not know what I'm talking about. Whatever. Forget that I've talked to a guy who built the damn cars at the Lordstown plant. He must not know what he's talking about either. He only built the cars... but what does he know...? Oh, forget it..

BTW, you don't need a Japanese VIN to order these parts. I've never needed one, and I've resold thousands of dollars in parts (yes, all ordered from GM, thru some buddies at the local dealership). I don't know where that rumor came from either, but I've never needed one and I know many other people who've also never needed one.

There are no badges on my car, period.

jackalope and gary. what your not realising is supply and demand, 1 of 50 cars made will make it worth some money, it may not be worth it to you but there is enough demand out there to have a high price.

take any rookie baseball card a cheap paper printed card, and if the guy becomes a star and less and less cards become available. that card that cost 2 cents to make is now worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars over time. there is no diffrence here, yes its still a crapalier, yes its still a base model car. but there were very few made and to some people that makes it worth money.

look at the edsel, it bombed, everyone hated it and said what a piece of junk it is. but it increases in value every year now.

Re: WOW check it out

Sndsgood, I do understand the idea of supply and demand. Using your example of the Edsel, it was well into the 70's before it became a demand item. All I was trying to say is that a 8 year old vehicle, be it in short supply or whatever, is not worth the money yet. Maybe in another 5 or 10 years, but not now. At least to me. You are not realizing that this is my opinion and I believe that is what Jackalope is trying to state also. To him, the vehicle is not worth the money. To others it might be.

Its like talking to a brick wall.

Jackalope, order a mirror wire harness. You tell me if that is GM wiring, or Toyota wiring. Then order the relay pack, and try to tell me its a GM part, same with the mirrors. Your going to get it from a TOYOTA dealership, in a TOYOTA BOX. Please prove me, John, and THE JBO wrong. We're not NEWBS, you might be 31, but your acting like a 12 year old w/ his Pokemon cards.

And on the needing a VIN to order things.......... only the LAZY parts employees need the damn VIN. I order parts just about every week, and never have to supply the VIN....... I guess it helps to know what your talking about, maybe thats your problem. I've come across your type in just about every dealership I've ever been....... every Auto Zone, Parts Hut, and NAPA........ always insisting your 100% right 100% of the time. Doesn't matter what your talking about, or dealing with, your right. Its probably your brother that wouldn't sell me a Serp belt to bypass my A/C on my Escort....... and your cousin that wouldn't sell Eric his TR55's because it didn't list the 2.4 as an application for them. All you know about your job is what the computer screen or book in front of you says. Its sad, it truly is.

You wont spend $25k on a rare JDM (Japanese Domestic MARKET........ Google it) Vehicle, but I bet I could get you to buy my rusty '78 Camaro Z28 for $15k............ if I asked nicely, would you perm your Mullet for me before you came to pick it up? How much do you want to bet, once those are sold, they could POSSIBLY GET MORE? As I said before, when I ordered the Toyo Tails a couple years ago, from GM, they had run out of the 2 inner lights, for the -99 tails. As in NON IN THE US OF A. They where then sent over from JAPAN, directly to me, at the dealership I worked at. Once GM realized that these where selling, they all of a sudden had MORE at Lansing. Where did they come from? Probably the same warehouse mine came from........ a Toyota warehouse in JAPAN...... since production of the cars had seased (unless the manufacture supplied GM with another order, which I doubt.)
