This is the last reason why I'd go premium. Oh well, my ad-blocker does a pretty good job, its just a blank post...
after re thinking it... the add is right after the topic starters post... its kinda like a border between that and the replys... Its not such a bad spot i guess. Atleast its not like there every 5 replys or something insane. And hell it works on getting people to go premi soooo high 5

That just pisses me off...I was gonna post, too, but was gonna check for other threads first...Im a college kid without a job, I cant afford to put up the cashto see a couple more forums and now to have to ditch this damn adbot...
You can buy a month for 2.50 Im sure you could find that somewhere.

Dave just got more people to pay for Premium way to go Dave.
Hey Dave with all of these premo guys you need a playground for all of the long time premo guys lol
You guys should go Premium-Level 2 - instead of ads you get porn.

I thought that was anything goes???
My justification for this is really quite simple - Premium members actively support the site financially, where as non-premium members do not. In order to balance it out, non-premium will see more ads, so I can try to make up the difference.
I have visited a number of other forums, and have seen how they use ads within the forum structure. It seems to me that it is a good way to go, to balance out the difference between premium and non-premium members, in the way they support the site.
In the coming weeks I will be experimenting with different placements of the ads in the forums. As always, premium members will not know the difference, becuase they already support the site financially, something I REALLY appreciate.
In the future there may be various levels of membership - as I add some new sections to the site. I can't make any promises or reveal anything just yet, but I think compared to other sites that have similar programs in effect, this site will be one of the least taxing on the wallet, and provide the most benefit for the dollar.

the former." - Albert Einstein
If its any consolation, I think it was a great idea. (not kissing up either)
GO PREMIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't mind it but some are really POS parts or site. Now we'll have more newbies buying those "module" that say a 15hp gain when they loose a few Hp.
It's not annoying at all. It's not like if it was taking the whole page. it's only a few lines.
and it's only on the first page. it won't make me go premium. I have a J but I don't use my 100 post per month. I still try to help the people as much as I can but going premium is not what I need.

I can put up with it. Dave you may innundate us with ads the info here is priceless. I am going premium next month don't worry
I don't need no stinking SIG. Wait this is one.
DOH!
Wow. I'm not going to go premium again just on the principle that you would add something as ridiculous as an AdBot to the forums.
My take on the premium issue is this:
Premium members should be given extra features on the website, not just a relief from COMPLETELY annoying and damn near unethical (see popups) advertisement. So now we (non-premies) have non-access to premium member forums (totally fine), a limited post count (once again, sucky, but fair is fair) and an omnipresent ad system to combat with if we don't pay up. Give me a break.
To those of you saying "you guys are weak", that's because you have to put up with it any time you're not logged in, a whole 10 seconds. Why don't you people get off your self-righteous premium pedestal and see that this ad SUCKS!

Do you use hotmail? google? yahoo? Watch TV? Drive on the highway? Go to concerts? Sporting events? Ads are EVERYWHERE! Comparing it to popups isn't fair and it not adware so what's the problem?
How is it not comparable to a popup that shows up with every post? How is it not comparable to the adware posts people were being banned for? Hotmail and Google do NOT attach themselves to MY content. And no, I have never been to a concert. I have absolutely zero problem with the banner ads on the site, they are on the top and bottom of this page as I type. But with them also IN THE POST, that makes the same add take up 3/4 of the post's page. That, in my opinion, is out of control.
<img src="http://registry.gmenthusiast.com/images/steve75/personal_pic.jpg">
Appearently Google now does, cause that's who sponsors adbot.
