Some of us understand the concept of having to pay the bills. Simply put, good for you for finding a way to generate more money. I'm suprized you haven't put more in. That blue field to the left of the threads as you scroll down is BEGGING for ads. As long as you don't put pop-ups on the site, I think you should put ad's everywhere. There are those of us that can't stand to scroll down an extra post, well you folks need to wake up and smell the coffee. Somebody's paying money so that you have a place to gather and pass information. If you're not going to do it, then it has to come from somewhere.
You piss and moan about $2.00 a month. Considering the fact that Dave cares enough to keep this forum active, you should either put up or shut up. How much money do you think he's sunk into this project. Do you really think you would have done the same, I don't.

Honestly I think it's crap. I didn't notice until a fellow SJ member pointed it out to me. Honestly I might have considered going premium, but this is another thing that makes me not want to! There is more then enough crap going around this board. Hell, I can still find posts from back when SJ started, almost a year ago. Why is that crap still on file? If you delete some of the old crap it makes more space. And Im sorry, there has got to be enough money made on this site. I remember about a year or so ago me and my x ordered the JBO decal, I think we even went premium for a while, we didn't recieve the decal for months, maybe close to a year. We kept trying to contact someone, but no response. Finally we recieved it, at that point we didn't even care about it. And another thing Spence brought up to me before, if there are so many people premium, yet there is still need for money, why the hell does Dave have his own personal site on here? I think this ad thing is crap. Our club forum is free, we have ads at the top and bottom of our forum and no one complains. I know ALOTof other forums that have that as well. Just leave it to that, not jacking threads up with that crap! Hell try other tatics, like selling shirts etc and putting the profits into the site. Theres a good idea!

Space isn't costing Dave much since he's got his own servers. It's bandwidth that costs, and this site uses a LOT of bandwidth. If those ads bring in a few more bucks for him, so be it.
i don't see it as big deal. I really don't see what the problem is it is just like having a useless post and most of us usually skip over that who sits and reads every response. Great Dave it takes money to run this site people just come to this site as if it was some sort of free site that someone can just sit put all this time into it and use thier money into if for out personal enjoyment.

i go to combovideos.com and they have ads on there site. i read somewhere that they get paid per click of the ads. idk that might be another idea to make more money.
i know i would click away even once a day would add up, imagine if more people did.

Personally I don't like change. I think this would have gone better with members if they were informed before the ads were placed on to the site. If there are any further changed to the site, I am sure people would like to be informed before finding the change.
I went premium for a month to see if it was for me, and it didn't work out. Besides free porn in the AG forums, there aren't too many incentives there that I can see...
Oh and everyone will get used to the ads in about a week. It's not a big deal.

Dave: do you offer special sponser memberships that are avalible to those who wish to sell things on the org? i've seen many sites do this with success and the whole userbase is helped by sponsers who support the site and sell good products, while they recieve more business due to thier relations with the site.

umm if dave wants to host 10 sites on here guess what, its his servers its his choice, oh well! and i doubt that your club forum has over 25k members and see's the number of hits that JBO see's , im sure the amount of hits JBO gets in a day is more then what your clubs site gets in a year...

Its really simple guys. To keep this site up and running Dave needs funds. That is with every site on the net.
If you feel that you should not have to pay to use this forum, I believe that you should not have a right to use it. And if you keep wanting to use it, you have no right to complain about it because you don't contribute anything to it.
Dave I think its a great idea. Whatever you can do to make a couple more dollars and improve the site is great. Keep up the good work man.

ok honestly its 2 bucks a month to be premium. No two bucks is less than a gallon of gas, everyone here dropped a couple grand on car parts but when something comes up to fork over two lousy bucks to support a site that made it possible for you to get these parts because without the JBO half the parts out now wouldn't have been made.
Now for those of you who say 20 bucks for a year is too much, I paid for premium when it was 30 a year and I even donated 100 bucks for server fund when it was needed.
No site anyone here runs comes close to the amount of bandwidth the JBO uses nor the amount of hits....so for those of you who say well I run my site for 20 a year thats not possible with the JBO
Now those of you who say its annoying, how hard is it to scroll down an extra two inches....
Now for people who say its using bandwidth, Ad bot is 99% likely to be running off a google server not the JBO so no additional bandwidth is incurred
So unless I see anyone forking over a percentage of money for the server bill monthly or quarterly I don't think you have a right to complain. This site has brought you parts cheaper/discounts/more readily available parts...either fork out some money to make it disappear and help out or quit complaining.

I don’t use the website enough to warrant me purchasing a premium account. I just use it as more of a reference tool. With that being said, I don’t have a problem with the ads at all.
Dave is allowed to do what ever ‘HE’ wants. If he wants to put of some gay adbot to increase money be my guest.
The one thing I need some help on is if the JBO is such a money pit, why add 3 more to the list? (Gmenthusiast, Ecotec Power, and GM Delta)
Won’t these domains only ADD to the already increasing bandwidth charges?
To me I see it as a very bad finical decision based on the money problems with just JBO.
