how many of you drive your car in the snow
Friday, September 16, 2005 6:10 PM
Well live in Michigan and I'm just trying to get an idea on how many people on here actually drive their car in the snow. I'm just wondering because I have a cavy and it's an arctic white 02 sedan and I am just really sceptical about letting all of that salt touch my car. Just looking for any comments about driving in the winter with a wings west avenger front bumper and any one that drives their car in the snow/winter.

i drive mine in the winer, but i live in jersey so i'm sure the winters aren't as bad, my car is black and besides the hood... has held up fine against salt and stuff. before i get reemed, yes its my daily driver so i have to drive it no matter what.

mods come once every great while... man i wish i wasn't so cheap..

I'm in Illinois, but my gf goes to Western Michigan, and the summer home is in Michigan, so I'm around, and I'll say driving my cav in the winter sucks. Even with brand new tires, unless you do something about it, stock suspension sucks, handling sucks, and driving in alot of snow really sucks. As for the salt on your car, I don't know what to tell ya, I warm up the garage, wash/wax, if you've got a heated garage, there you go

Daily driver here! Allen Park, Mi I have a 04 and this will be my 2nd winter. Try to wash and dry it often. I'm more worried about the stone chips I get year round(100mi to work and back) But I don't have a kit so not sure on snow clearence.

Depends on which cav you're talking about.

My 04 drives year round, unless there is salt on the ground. That poor car almost
spent a month stuck in snow last Jan...

My wagon is the 3rd car and beater...so it sees the nastier weather...

Ah I drove last winter in the snow with a brand new car, and this will be my second winter with it....I believe what i am going to try to do is at least spray it off every other day, wax it within the next two weeks or so and during the winter do a complete wash and detail once a week....

My cavi couldnt go up my hill in the snow since i had that turbo on it all i would do is spin and ended up going down the hill instead of going up it. So mine doesnt see snow.

Mine has seen every winter, last year I even kept the RK hood on too. I picked up a Subaru wagon though this year for many reasons, one of which is that I got stuck many times in my Sunfire in the past. I moved into a new house last year where I park in an alleyway that doesn't get plowed, so I got stuck more than usual last year & don't want to repeat that this year.

As for the salt, I go to a touchless car wash with undercarriage blast.

mine was winter driven last year, never ever got stuck and I live in Québec (so we get pretty much the worst snow falls) luckily they dont use salt anymore on the road !

And its impossible to get stuck in the snow with a cavy/sunfire

That's what I do for her car and the wagon..works pretty good too.

Somehow the coupe finds itself stuck in its spot after a good snow, because
they plow the parking lots so bad that the poor car gets the snow plowed up
next to it, so it is usually stuck there, usually I can't get it out until the snow goes
down...stupid parking lots...

hopefully it won't be as snow crazy this year...

my cavi sits on the side lawn unless my beater takes a crap. then again southern WI really doesn't see too much snow. not like we used to at least.

haha yah..I got stuck while driving casually down a street. The snow packed up under the car and lifted the front end I had to wait for about an hour and let the engine heat melt the snow/ice built up. Winters here can get really nasty..but i must say, I find GM vehicle's all around are great in snow. Usually imports and caravans are dug out all the time. The caravans are to heavey and fwd..the imports are way to light and get snow stuffed under when the plow passes
Although between my old 2nd gen Z and my now 3rd gen Z. The 2nd gen would walk thourgh anything in its way
