2002 Z24 Sedan
Saturday, April 08, 2006 7:39 PM
I have had a 2002 Z24 Sedan for several months now which I like, it definitely has a substantial increase in power over my previous vehicle, the 2001 Cavalier with the 2.2L engine. I don't seem to see/hear of many Z24 sedans, especially 2002. I was wondering if anyone knows how many were made in the 2002 model year, or if anyone has one.

There's a few around. Not many of us are posting. 02 was the only year for the sedan Z24. You could get a sedan with a 2.4 before 02 tough but it was not a Z24.

Mine's gray like most of them around.

Note that they continued making the Z24 sedans in Canada beyond 02. We never used the LS Sport name up here so all the 03+ LS Sport's you have are Z24's up here.

in the US, they introduced the Z24 sedan for about half of the 2002 model year, and then the last half of the model year everything was changed to ls sport type. that said, there still weren't very many produced, im sure lenko might have those numbers.

I've never seen an 03+ Z24 4 door in quebec. I saw alot of 2 door Z24 and some Ztype but never a 4door Z. I saw 3-4 02 Z24 4door tough.

I don't have the 2002 numbers by model (only 03 and 04).

But 03 and 04 were around 30,000 for the Z24/LS Sport sedan each. Not terribly rare, sorry. Except for the ONE 04 Z24 Sedan built in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico.. the only ONE they made there that year. All the rest were built in Lordstown, Ohio.

Hey, while we're on it... maybe someone can help me here..

I know that a code of "1JC37" is a Cavalier coupe. And 1JF37 is a Cavalier Z24 or LS Sport coupe. Then there's 1JC69 and 1JF69, which are Cavalier sedan and Cavalier Z24 or LS sedan, respectively. But what is a 1JH37? Some other coupe? Mid-level? Same with 1JH69... I don't know the "H" designation yet. Same with Sunfire and JX.

J/C Cavalier
J/F Cavalier Z24 or LS
J/H ???

J/B Sunfire SE
J/D Sunfire GT
J/X ???

The Z22 and Gto(x) ?? hahaha, maybe Gm is showing us that Z22 was a model?

don't forget the VLX cavy. Vx cavy.

Hum, ammazing thing, I just looked at my registration paper for the 4door Z and it's 3G1JH52T

Maybe it's for an option that some don't have.

I have the premium radio. CD casette and speakers with 4 wires?!?!?!?

I have everything except the sunroof and the front lip.

Ok, so the H might be the 4 door Z24. I'll have to do more research into this

What do you mean by no front lip? Like it wasn't there, but the back one was? Were there slots already for it? Because no car came from the factory with just the back... it was all or nothing.

I have the side skirts and the rear lips but not the front one. The holes are there but there's no lip.

Every 4 door Z I saw here didn't had the lip.

Don't worry, I'm waiting for the lip.

it wouldnt be the convertable would it?
or the rally sports?

Re: 2002 Z24 Sedan

Wouldn't be convertible.... because there were no 2003 or 2004 convertibles. It's something that was around in 03 and 04, but not 2000... because the codes are not in my 2000 service manual.

So I suspect it may actually be the Z24/LS Sport Sedan after all.

What about just an LS model and not LS sport Lenko? I'm not sure of my vin right off hand, but it's an 03 LS sedan (not ls sport).

First 7 you mean?

Generally they should be all the same for the same model.

My convertibles all started with 4G1JF32T....

4 = USA
G = GM
1 = Chevrolet
J = J-body (duh!)
F = Cavalier Z24 (or LS)
3 = Body
2 = Body
T = Engine code, 2.4L LD9

Pull any VIN's off the 03-05 Sunfire sedans that were only made for Canada?
