04 Eco price?
Tuesday, April 18, 2006 8:19 PM
I was at the junk yard looking for some parts. I just happened to glance over and a familiar valve cover caught my eye. I just new it was a red car because it was totaled so bad. I got closer and sure enough. It was an ecotec with 30 some odd on the odometer. Out of curiousity I asked the guy how much. He said 350 for engine and ECU. I thought that was a good dead, but I've been out of the J seen for a while. So I would like to know is that a decent deal? The guy said he'd cut me a good price on the whole price if I wanted the entire drive train.

I also seen a lot of 2.4DOHC motors also. Were these in the Buick Skylarks? They must have been because I seen a skylark and it had the 2.4 in it. Those were going pretty cheap. Damn I wish I had a J with a blown motor. Anyone got a cavy/sunfire with a bad motor =P

Skylark? Didn't those things die in the early 90's? If so, no. I believe the only cars the 2.4 was in is the Malibu, Cavalier, Sunfire, Grand Am and I think one other.

$350 isn't a bad price at all.

I'd like to find an Ecotec to replace the 2200 in my wife's 99 cavi. No luck around my area.

She posted this earlier.
