Plastic Tube In Intake Resonator?

Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me what the plastic tube seated in the intake piping that goes into the resonator is for, and do I need it? It seems to just make it a hell of a lot harder to remove that tube when I need to.

Ditch it.

Only thing I ever noticed was that it made my car "quieter"...

If I recall, it used to be listed in the FAQ as a performance mod too!!! I must say I'm quite impressed, I haven't seen a thread on it in a few years.

It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy that even in 2012 there are still new posts asking about the tuner tube.
