Ordered on May 2nd, still hasn't shipped. My dealer said the parts were in Michigan, 4-5 days max. I contacted GMpartsdirect via the website on got this within minutes:

"Your order should be shipping out by Wednesday of next week. As for your
local dealer he is right but he probably does not process and ship out
500 to 1000 orders a day."

BS, in the time it took to be snotty they could have processed my parts. Never ordering from them again.

I know people have not patience.

"Oh yeah we have everything sitting on the shelf to ship out" M

These things are not just sitting around waiting for people to order. My toyota tail were special order and those took about three weeks. No big deal.

Yes, their volume of sales has gone up exponentialy. They used to have more parts available to ship quickly. Now they rely on ordering the parts themselves once you place your order. Sort of a middle-man situation. However, for most parts, they are still cheaper even with the handeling charge. So it's up to you... do you want it tomorrow, or do you want to save a couple bucks?

3 weeks is no big deal? I wasn't in a huge hurry, I figured the 7-10 days they promised was fine. I ordered on a Monday, that means I would get it by the following Friday at the latest. Now it will end up being 25 days minimum. I didn't order a set of taillights, it was a throttle cable. You can drive your car without 'cool' looking taillights, try driving it without a throttle cable. Plus the part is 100 miles from me, I could walk and get it in less then 25 days.

All said and done, the price was $2 less then ordering from a dealer. Add 25 days and $xx of insurance money for a car sitting doing nothing, that's a heck of a deal. But I'll just sit back and let GM take their time, right MyLife? Who's in a hurry? You're right, I don't have patience, not enough to deal with people like you.

It's no wonder GM is going under. With business practices like this, they deserve it.

You don't have to deal with me. It is true they are getting more volume than before. The person who e-mailed you most likley is not the person shipping they can only estimate or give you a time frame. As i have said to people if you are in a hurry just get it from the from dealer. If have the time order GM parts direct. Yes you can get good deals but don't expect a quick response time. Don't ge pissed at me.
Yes they need to get their act together. If you had asked me i would have told you it may take longer than the time they tell you.

Please don't flame me on this, I just want to explain how this works. I know that the price that gmpartsdirect sells it to is around the same price these dealers have to buy the part from gm for, and they mark it up from there. Gmpartsdirect pretty much does the same thing, but their shipping charges are there profit. When they ship stuff, they pretty much eat the freight charges for shipping. The shipping charges that they bill you for, goes to their profit. Then at the end of the month they subtract the freight amount from the profit account and get their true profit. Inwhich because of their volume is substantial. Question, how do they ship these parts to you usually? Next Day freight, 2 day express, etc.? Or snail mail, postal service? Pleas don't get pissed at me, I'm just trying to help out and inform people how this works.

Hint: Take a look at the company behing gmpartsdirect and you'll find it's another dealership running it. Kind of like the other big dealers that sell you GM performance parts at a discount.

I ordered a set of struts and springs from them 2 weeks ago. I got an email confirmation of the order minutes later. How long does it usually take for something like that to ship. Will I get a email confirmation that it has shipped.

this is true ....EXCEPT even with the jacked up shipping charges...you are getting the part for cheaper than the dealer....GMpartsdirect - just like any other company - is not going to sell anything to you and not make money off of it

ordered my shifter cables. special order, took 12 days from order placed till it showed up on my doorstep. I saved about $35, even with the "handling fee", so I couldn't really complain too much.

Well, it took them 2 weeks to manufacture the item, because it was "Special Order" but it took only 2 business days for the product to arrive! I give em a thumbs up!

I might buy a headliner from them soon (I dont have one )

When I check the status it says special order. Does anyone know what exactly that means for my struts and springs. Ive waited a few weeks now and I will wait as long as it takes. It ended up being a lot cheaper than a dealer or parts store.
