ok theres a green 97 cavalier by me, they want 400 bux for it, they hit a deer, it needs hood (which i have my stock hood still), fenders, windsheild, exhaust, and air bags, has 130,000 miles, 2.2 automatic. is it worth it?

tuff to say. i guess it would depend on how hard they hit they deer cuz it might end up costing you more money than its worth.. personally i wouldnt buy it cuz thats way to many miles for me. unless i was using it as a beater.

Hood - $100 (You have this, so -$100)
Fenders - $120
Bumper - $50 (You have this, so -$50)
Windshield - $250, less if you can find one in a junkyard (good luck)
Exhaust - $150 with parts and welding
Air Bags - Don't really "need", but you can find them on ebay once in a while for about $250

So All in all, you'd pay about $700-$800 to fix it up (minus paint), so a car for $1200 isn't too bad.

i paid 200 for it, im still deciding on what route to go with it. either drive as beater, use for parts car, or fix it and sell it,

I just hit a moose with my 02 Cavalier. It was a mid sized and did 7300 dollars damage without ruining my hood, fenders.

Just a little heads up. Be sure to check out the engine parts. There could be damage is places you cannot see.

Oh yeah, and Btw, Ontopic I would fix it up and sell it. Obviously you don't NEED it, you just couldn't pass up a deal. So why not make some money off it, and turn it into an investment?

Check around for cash deals. I got qoutes for a 2003 Honda Civic from $154 to $190 installed, and that was just the four places close to my house.

depends on if the frame is bent whether its worth it or not. Js in accidents have a high tendancy to bend the frame... hence the reason small accidents can total out a J easily. if its all surface cosmetic damage than go for it. coarse it kinda looks like maybe you already did.

Im surprised the insurance company didnt total it from the looks of the pics. It doesnt take much for them to total j's.

Who buys collision insurance on a '97 Cavi?
You pay several hundred $$ a year for collision, and then if it gets totalled, the insurance company offers you what, $1000?

well it does have a salvage title, i know its been in 2 accidents, the deer only dented the hood, i quess it wasnt a big deer, which set off airbags and which cracket the windsheild. the last owners bent in the back of the fenders so they could open the doors, i dont know why, im wondering if i could take them off and bend them back, and readjust them.the car is not really THAT bad.
does anyone know what all is involved in changing an airbag and how do i get them out of the steering wheel?

i would say with all the damage, and that many miles on it, it wouldnt be worth all the moeny to get it runnin good.... i would say, take all that money the you would spend fixing it, and the money to buy it, and buy one in better shape and with less miles... just my opinion, good luck
