This is a finish from this thread.

R.I.P.
Pontiac Sunfire
1994-2005/ 1995-2005 model year.

The final Pontiac Sunfire was built on June 3 at General Motors' Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, plant. In 11 years, 1,068,500 Sunfires were built. About 220,000 were produced in Mexico; the others were built in Lordstown, Ohio.

Oh well, there is always the 1.6L Aveo/ Pontiac Wave, or the Pontiac Pursuit.

In Canada the Wave is approx. $2000 more than a Sunfire, and the Pursuit is $6000 more. Sunfire is lighter and has a roomier interior than the Cobalt/Pursuit.

What a great time to dump one of your biggest sellers in Canada!

There were over a million Mustangs produced by the end of their second model year (1966). Not saying that J-Bodies are like classic Mustangs, but who knows how the future will be? Heck, 30 years from now, some original JBO members might be buying some old J-Bodies, and restoring them. Wouldn't THAT be a sight?

05 Sunfire, Ecotec, 5 speed, Electric Blue

so how long till we can get collectible plates?

Re: The final Pontiac Sunfire--R.I.P.

nevermind i answered my own question

* Collector or Antique Plates - May be issued to vehicles in excess of 25 years old.
* Vehicles with model year of 1959 and older no emission test needed.
* Vehicles with model year of 1960 and newer need an emission test one time when issued a collector plate. If the vehicle is sold a new emission test will be required for new owner's registration.

There is no Pontiac replacement in the United States...I don't know if there ever will be an entry level car replacement in the Pontiac line up...but in my opinion it's not needed. If Pontiace is supposed to be the "performance" brand of General Motors, then another entry level economy vehicle is warranted in Pontiac...well at least that's my opinion.

In Canada the entry level Pontiac is now the "Wave", which is a rebadged Aveo.

The Pursuit/Cobalt is not really the J's replacement, it costs quite a bit more, $10,998 for the Sunfire/Cavalier, $16,868 for the Pursuit/Cobalt. They are being marketed as one step above J's. And the $13,000 1.6L Aveo/Wave is hardly a replacement. In terms of value the J's have not been replaced.

With the lowcost Aveo/Wave in its lineups, GM is hoping they don't have to discount the higher priced Pursuit/Cobalt like they did the J's.

The US is using the Vibe as entry level. The Canadian consumer is more cost conscious than their American counterpart so we get the Wave/Pursuit.

considering all the cars i;ve seen in the junkyard locally alone, and prob nation wide, theres def should be decently less than a million if not 3/4 of a million or so.
