good point. I did a quick search and see there are no 1/4 mile drag strips near knoxville. So in my opinion thats out. Not worth racing 1/8th mile.

Hotels wont be too hard if we have maybe 1 person in the area to scope the area out just to see what it looks like.

I for one, want to keep it that far south for a few reasons... good weather, and we get to get the southern guys in the range that they can still make it as well. Usually they are the ones that get secluded because of the distance but I think we can still get this central enough that more people can make it.

wonder what's around nashville. pretty big area and direct access from highways in pretty much every direction.

See if this link works...
http://www.racingin.com/track/map.aspx?s=TN

Bristol has one, and so does Memphis if Im researching correctly. both are 2+ hours from knoxville.

London, KY is 1.5hrs north of that with an NHRA 1/4 mile track. Not sure if 1.5 hours is a stretch for some FL guys or not. Im just tossing out ideas is all.

Probably nix bristol. from what ive heard there is no direct or fast way of getting to it surprising how many tracks are just 1/8 mile. i never realised so many tracks were that way. guess it tells you how much ive raced.

Coming from a Fl person. I would rather it be furter away.

I always liked driving to Ohio. The drive is a big part of the fun.

At the same time closer makes it easier to do more often.

Like i have mentioned before. My club hosts the GM lonestarbash in texas every year and we bring 100+ cars Every year just from around texas...most of which are delta bodies now. and while i have placed myself on the map i cant do it for everyone else that attends our event. I would be more than happy to cancel ours and incorperate it into this event instead if it was within driving distance. the further it is the fewer people im gonna be able to get to go. If this isnt doable i absolutely understand, but i have brought this up before and no one has gotten with me to discuss actual details. so just like every year i just have to wait till the location and date is set and determin whether my group can make it or not. let me know guys

I seen Bristol mentioned. I have visited there, and it's on the same property as the Nascar track. There is plenty of ways in and out of the facility, one being a major highway. Has to be when you have 150,000 people watching the Nascar events. Along with huge parking areas around the tracks. To stay Johnson City is the best I believe in the Tri-city area. Nice Mall and great Restaurants. Just my FYI, but would make for fantastic pics with the mountains behind.

what i was meaning is if you look at say your nashvilles, your louisvilles columbus etc. you have major highways leading off in every directions and for getting to them from other states you have direct routes. bristol you just have 81 that runs southwest to northeast. just not the most direct place to get to if you have people coming from every direction.

make sure you look at where bristol motor speedway is not bristol itself. Its right off of 34 or 394, so its very easily accessible from a lot of directions. Im not saying thats where it is at, but easy access.

i know where its at. ive been there. and your pretty much going across 81 to get there. 81 is your major highway then you'd get off 81 and take your smaller roads. but im just saying its allot less easily accesible for people coming from all diffrent directions. look at like nashville. you have 6 major highways coming from basically every direction. just much easier to get to.

Ok, I wonder if they could chime in with some insight here, if Tenn is one of the considered spots.

yeah i just used it as an example as it being 10 hours from the florida guys as well as the pennsylvania guys, illinois/iowa guys, and now after talking to scott. he can get quite a few texas guys who could drive the 10 hours to the event. so it sounds good on paper atleast. just need to narrow it down. as well as narrow it down to a 1/4 mile track unless those racing want to race 1/8th mile...

Need more race people to chime in here. I cant say im going to race only because thats a LONG way from home to break, and Im not going to trailer the car there or pay for my car and tow vehicle with trailer to make the trip also. I want to drive to the bash which is half the fun anyway.

Im not going to fall into the "tow to the bash club" like david and fetter
