bash car show

okay guys, ive got a question for you. now the last few years the way it seems to work is we have a handfull of wild cars a handfull of stock cars and then a crapload of mild cars. last year i'd say 70% of the cars there fit into the mild class. what about just having everyone in compete for say a top 25. we just pick the top 25 cars at the bash. and then do the usual best of awards. this lets everyone compete against everyone. lets here your thoughts. (and there is a reason why im asking this question)

I think after the fact, People will still say the judging wasn't fair. Especially if you take away the classes. Just my thought..

well nobody openly said the judging was unfair last year. and this doesnt have to do with fairness.

Either way is good with me, Top 25 or keep it out we had it last year. I had no complaints.

yeah i have no complaints how its done. I have no intention to go for a trophy. I go through judging so if there is something i dont like, i have a leg to stand on than be someone having a problem and not even being judged.

i'll give this another few days before i make the decision, looks like most dont care either way, or dont feel the need to respond.

or don't check the events section. or want to complain later when a decision is made and didn't speak up now.

i think top 25 is good w/ some specialty awards. anyway we can get our score sheets this year?
do they make a progressive scoring system like world of wheels that puts you in different classes based on amount done to the car? may drag out the registration process.

basically a mild car and a wild car both have a chance of winning, your not judged on how many extra parts you have thrown on the car, your judged on how clean the parts are and how well the car is built. so having 30 more modifacations then the guy next to you won't mean anything if they arn't done nicely.

im always iffy on giving out scores esp. since we have 3 people judging. so just for 60 cars we had over 180 score sheets. not to mention the potential people arguing or complaining because i scored them a 5 out of 10 when they feel they are a 9 out of 10. just not sure if i want to get into those type discussions. i don't have any problem with someone asking me where there car was lacking or what they could do to improve but i dont nessicarily want to get into arguments about how many points they got. the other issue is that with three judges. one guy may give a car say 8 points where another judge will give 4 points. both scores can be fair scores because the first judge gives out higher scores across the board where the second judge gives out lower scores across the board. but i can see allot of peple also not understanding that and arguments starting up.

What if you made like a different level system of the "mild" class?
Maybe if you broke it up a bit into different types of "mild" say level 1 has just enough mods to get you past stock class but level 2 is just shy of the 'wild class'
Not sure exactly how you would break it apart, but just a suggestion that might help?

I have a question:

Are we doing drive up-style judging again or might we finally get a chance to do a parked show?

Just curious, thanks!

i prefer drive thru. are you wanting to do a display or something kevin?

heres the thing 60 cars register to show. but only around 40 cars end up get judged. so id prefer to judge the cars that want to get judges and not bother judging 20 cars that don't want to get judged anway. not to mention people leave for lunch or to run around, and now your walking the parking lot a dozen times to make sure everyone gets judges so no body gets pissed off. just is much easier to have those that want to be judged come get judged.

Yeah, I understand. Drive-up is fine. Was thinking about a display, but no big deal.

BUT, I'll throw another idea out there...

The parking just seemed a little cramped/dis-organized last year and also

people saying "you can't park there, that guy went out for lunch or he went for a wash

or he's in line to get judged, etc."

I was just thinking about designated parking spots for those that wish to show, maybe number them

and only let those that choose to "show" park in them. Judging starts at (whatever o-clock) and then you just go

down the line of show cars. Just an idea?

i'll put it out there that if anyone wants to setup a display, i dont have any problem coming over and judging you that way, just in all the bashes ive only ever seen one person do a display. if you want to go thru the effort. i'll judge it. it just better be soemthing more elaborate then a meguiars bottle holding your hood up or something like that.

the parking lot last year wasn't the greatest either. wasn't really any marked spots. hopefully with a better parking lot allot of that will be taken care of. we pretty much just let everyone park where they wanted too. we could look at making parking more organised this time around.
one thing i do allot of times if im with a group is to just set a chair in the spot if someone headed out for judging or lunch. but most people should be able to look at a parking spot, see cleaning supplies or chairs or whatever and know the spot is taken.

problem with show and non show parking is everyone always wants to be together in groups. and people hate having half their friends park in one spot versus parking in another. we can do a judging starts at this time and just go down the row. but again. peole that leave for lunch or car wash or need something from the store. and then the first guy judges has an hour to clean his car while the guy at the end gets 2-3 extra hours to clean his car. i know when i show i spend allot of the day cleaning (its about the only time i clean my car lol) so i wouldnt want to be the first one judged. id prefer to clean it for as long as i like and then be judged when i want to. add in the fact that we tried to talk to people and have them tell us any speacial things done to the car that we may not notice. and you can't find that info out if the owner doesnt happen to be along.

Judges Choice Award
Driven Furthest (trailored cars are excluded from this award)

That's 52 trophies so far. Maybe add a couple more categories...or lessen a few?

I guess it also might depend on how many people register too.

Now I know that it starts getting expensive as more classes/awards are added, BUT

I would also be willing to donate some trophies (have them made), just need to know what you are going to need &

what the final logo will look like. PM me if interested.

I think first and runner up would be fine for each class. No need for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
....and what about the first and second gens. lol

52 trophies for 60 car car show. think we should scale that back a bit lol

if i stick with the diffrent classes i'll just break the mild up. there were only about 4 cars really in the wild class. same for stock class. so there would be a stock a wild and then 2 mild classes split between years.

just curious what do you consider stock and mild.....ive been in a couple of shows where stock would be totally bones stock and other shows where you could have rims and lowered but no body kit and it would still be considered stock

for the most part classes vary from show to show. in some shows i entered, being shaved and painted and bagged is still considered mild. in some shows that is wild. for stock class we were i believe keeping it to just a few modifications. wheels, drop a few other minor things. there weren't allot of stock cars at the bash last year. i think we maybe had 4 or so. the rest all had enough done to be considred mild.

Re: bash car show

i personally dont like the idea. the classes give the cars with a smaller chance of winning against something like gary's, fetter's, or your car a nice go at actually winning something.
