yellow foam in oil?

pulled the dipstick to check oil levels on my moms car and its got a yellow foam build-up on the end of the dipstick. I then pulled the oil cap and it had the same build-up there.

any ideas on the cause

apparently she knew of this before and asked a mechanic about it, he said it could be the head gasket, that makes no sense to me though.

Foamy oil = blown head gasket, 9 out of 10 times. Have cooling system pressure and compression tests done to confirm.

foam in the oil is really not 9 times out of 10 the HG. Most 2.3 make foam even new. Humidity will do it. Nothing to worry about.

Milky oil is a bad sign but a bit of foam is no problem.

That yellow gunk can be caused by cold temps or short trips and the car not being able to warm up to burn it off (condensation like Mfk-223 said)
