PO705 4T40E transmission

I have an 04 Cavalier with a 4T40E trans and I have this code PO705 - TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR OUT OF POSITION... Does this mean the sensor is bad or can I adjust it? I dont know much about transmissions, but enough to get by. I have heard of people adjusting range sensors but I dont know if you can on this tranny and I cant find sh** on the internet about it. The trans doesnt act any different or shift hard, but the shift lever is kind of out of alignment. If anyone has any educated guesses or knows what they are talking about please respond, I dont have time for any backyard mechanic "try this" BS or ". Thank you and have a good one.

yes its adjustable, it sits right on top of the trans near the fill cap, you can get the tool on ebay, I got mine for < $15 shipped, the procedure in in the Haynes manual.

A tool to adjust the range sensor?

Will your car start in park and neutral?
