Oil pressure switch replacement

Hi,

I just had my oil pressure switch replaced because it blew and oil sprayed all over my engine.

I was charged $180 for the whole thing (installation and parts)...Is this pretty high? I live in the GTA (Canada).

Thanks!

I assume you are referring to oil pressure sensor. Yes those don't cost much and on your car would take 10 minutes to replace.

The sensor cost about 13 us dollars at our part stores, ebay is probably half that, and like John said, 10 mins. So $50 is probably pushing it on price.

They are around $20 around here for the switch and most shops here charge by the hour and average is $75 a hour, So around $100. I would say the place you went to is way to high, Also most shops mark up 30-50% on parts since that is where most of their money is made.
