Ac delete belt question
Saturday, January 11, 2014 7:52 AM
I tried searching, but couldn't come across too much.

I've recently installed an AC bypass pully die to a blown compressor. I simply couldn't stand the noise coming from the motor.

Since installing, the cheap pully has done nothing but chirp and squeal.

My question is, is this te right belt that I would need to completely bypass that pully? I understand that our cars came with ac as an option, and I'm assuming that retorting the belt is possible. (I don't have a diagram, (aftermarket hood))

Here's the belt: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/AC_Delco/Drive_Belt/AC5K345.html

Motor is a 2200
Also, if anyone can, please post the diagram that would represent how I would need to route the belt so that I can finally drive without a bird sanctuary under the hood.

Thanks!

When I did this with my 2200 I just went to advance auto and bought a belt for a non ac car. Worked great and just left the compressor hang by itself.

Is the belt route significantly different?

Thanks for the reply.

I seriously can't stand the chirping. Makes me feel like my car is going to fall apart.

Nope, ran mine like the picture I attached shows. Looks like the water pump doesn't get enough surface but it does. I ran it like that for years.

If that's all my '01 needs, I'm a happy camper. Mucho thanks

Oh yea, non ac belt will get you fixed right up. The a/c on the 2200 is a joke anyhow lol.

No power when its running and no cooling when you put your foot down to move. Pointless.

So I bought the belt I linked to above, and it wasn't the correct size.

Can anyone link me to the proper belt for a NON AC 2200?

Any help would be amazing. Local shops don't have what I'm looking for.
