Hey everyone I've got a 96 Cavalier z24. I was driving down the interstate last Friday and my car starting making a loud knocking noise coming from around the timing chain area. I didn't lose power the car idles fine but it sounds like someone is hitting the inside of the motor with a hammer. I decided to dig in and check out the timing chain tensioner. I pulled the tensioner out and the piston pretty much fell out in my hands. I went to the parts store and picked up a new chain and tensioner and installed both. Put everything back together and still the same loud knocking noise. Wondering if anyone has had anything similar or may know what else I need to look at. I took a video of the sound but not sure how to post it. Thanks for your help in advance.

Are you sure you don't have rod or main bearing knock?
