last time i trust canadian tire...need help
Saturday, March 05, 2005 1:56 PM
well my serpentine belt squeeks alot until i clean it with a wire brush then it comes back eventually. so i finally decided to fix it using some belt spray crap. i did it correctly the first time but that meant i couldnt get the whole belt so i did it while running then turned it off and let it sit for a night. well obvisouly that was a bad idea, now its a different squeel and it wont go away. my wire brush gets some of it off but i need something that can get all of it off like a solvent or something. any ideas? also how hard is it to replace the belt itself cause i wanna do that anyway. thanks

Ill get a pic of my car soon ;p

u have to push up or down the tensionner to free the tension on the belt . Then remove the old one and put the one in...Belt dressing is not very good......Another thing is to check all ur pulley when the belt is off to make sure that u don't have a bad bearing somewhere...

if the idler or tensioner pulleys spin easy and fast when you spin them by hand they are bad. A good pulley should feel like it has some preload on it. The ac compressor bearing like to go bad too. just spin every thing if something sounds "dry" the bearing is bad. The compressor pulley is not service able in chassis so you who have to take it to a repair shop, it also involves special tools.

that belt squeak remover wont fix the squeak, you're either squeaking because of a dirty and worn belt, or a pulley is making that noise.
