I am trying to complete a rebuild on a 1994 Chevy Cavalier 2.2L and I am having a hard time finding out what goes here...
Follow the larger silver A/C line out of the canister near the radiator resevoir, up around the the shock tower and then down in front of the engine bay firewall. Follow it until it the firewall just under the rack and pinion, well just below where the fat line goes in there is a black elbow! What goes in to that elbow and where does the other end lead to???
Unfortunately I wasn't the guy that had my hands on it first so I never knew what went there. I was trying to finish up my rebuild when I was filling the radiator and coolant started coming out of the elbow.
Can someone please help me???

It could be but I still need to know what goes there and where the other end goes to. I do however have two coolant hoses running from the the radiator/engine to what I know is the heater core. That is more on the drivers side, the area I am looking at is more on the passangers side. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am stationed in Germany so I don't see many of these cars.

the accumulator? I'd have to look at my car, and its too cold to do so.

i think thats the accumulator you're talking about. The route of the AC coming out of the accumulator will be going to the evaporator which is under your dash on the passenger side.
The heater core has nothing to do with the AC. Thats got everything to do with the engine coolant.

He's talking about the rubber elbow on the HVAC. nothing goes in the elbow. It's there to evacuate the water from the evaporator in the HVAC.

So if coolant is coming out of there as I put coolant in the radiator then I have a bad heater core??
probably yes.
there'.s only 1 rubber elbow on the HVAC and it's the water drain so you do have a problem.
