um there should be a clutch reservoir near the brake master cylinder reservoir..check it and make sure if its full...

your talking about the cap by the airbox that says make sure it's sealed and clean the cap after installation????

it has a little resivoir and it runs down to a black hose?

I checked that and there is nothing in it cause it runs down into the black hose

yup keep putting fluid into it....and if it running out that fast then sounds like your slave cylinder maybe gone...thats what happened when i encountered that problem.

it will be leaking under the car in the bellhousing of the transmission. not from a "master cylender" its called a slave cylender and on these cars you have to pull the trans to do em.

i just had my slave cylinder replaced it is aroun 800 dollars tgo fix if you don't know how to do it your self if you do it would have been around 350 dollars. to tell if your clutch goes to the floor and stays their and you resovouir is empty put some fluid in it and look under the car while you pump the clutch if it is leaking out of the bottom of the transmission then it is a slave cylinder have some one pump your clutch and look under the car fo a leak.

ok so today i filled the resivoir up and it was workin great..after about 20 minutes of driving it's back to the same @!#$....it's really hard to shift gears, and the pedal is still kind of soft..mind you I had a really stiff clutch before.... what's the next thing? the slave cylinder? is that what it is?..I want to change it myself if it is..how hard is it really.

and just so we're clear on my mechanical ability Ive never really played with the engine. But like i said I want to do it myself gotta learn somehow. Any tips or more detailed instructions on how to replace it would be great..the manuals aren't always the greatest

one more thing I am looking in the manual right now under

clutch master cylinder - removal and installation

it seems very easy from the instructions...why would it cost 800 to replace?

1- remove sound insulator from under the left side of the dash.

2- use a flashlight, locate the clutch master cylinder pushrod. disconnect the pushrod from the clutch pedal.

3- remove the two nuts which attatch the clutch master cylinder to the firewall.

4- detatch the clutch master cylinder remote resivoir from the firewall.

5- disconnect the clutch hydraulic line from the clutch release cylinder. have rags handy as some fluid will be lost as the line is removed.

6- remove the clutch master cylinder, remote reservoir, and clutch hydraulic line as a single assembly.

7- installation in reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the clutch master cylinder nuts to the torque listed. To reconnect the clutch hydraulic line at the clutch release cylinder refer to illustration.

8- bleed the clutch.

Why would that cost 800?????? is it just really time consuming?

its not the clutch master cylinder.....its the slave cylinder (speaking from experience, i had the exact same symptoms 8 mnths ago) which is inside the bell housing so the tranny has to be dropped in order to swap it out. and usually when you do the slave cylinder you rebuild the clutch at the same time because of the amoutn of work it already is. its not necessarily the parts that is the expensive part its the labour. if you know a mechanic i'd get them to do it if you've never done a clutch before. and also if the car is driven hard expect to have to get the flywheel machined at the same time to get rid of any scoring that may be on it. and i wouldnt just try a clutch by myself with out any experience any oil on your pressure plate or flywheel and you'll be doing another clutch in your future again

wow this sucks... if I take it to a shop to get checked will they be able to tell if it's that for sure?

also if it does end up being that I might as well get the spec clutch and flywheel combo from gravana...does this come with everything that will be needed to fix this problem?

if you are not familiar with the engine/tranny and how to remove/replace either one, you should take it to the mechanic. my dad and i replaced my clutch a while ago and it took a good while and he is very knowledgeable with cars.

Peace Out!!!

Yeah the Spec clutch comes with a new slave cylinder. Just adding fluid wont solve your problem though, you have to bleed the line to get all the air out. If you just added fluid, it probably did not get all the way in the cylinder because of the air in there from running it dry.

Only reason it would go dry though, is if you have a leak somewhere.

well the clutch is on the left side under the car right? it has a little white plug in the top of it?....I see some kind of fliud on the right side and up in the lines that are up there so I think it is leaking........where is the bleeder for the clutch? I can't find it.

Re: clutch lost it preasure??
Tuesday, April 05, 2005 11:44 AM
The bleeder is located in the front of the tranny between the battery and the engine, where the hydraulic line goes into the tranny from the Clutch reservoir and master cylinder. There is a line that goes into the tranny that is connected, and another one that is not. That is the bleeder.

yes bleed your clutch line. same thing happened to me. i had a very hard time shifting gears and the pedal was very easy to push in. i took it to my mechanic and he called me about 20 mins later saying it was done. all it was, was air in the line. so bleed it before you start to tear apart your trans
