Help Please! Loud POP screwed my steering!!
Sunday, April 03, 2005 8:00 PM
I turned my steering wheel to the right (almost all the way) in a parking lot while backing out of a parking spot,... Now, when I tried to straighten and turn to the the left, I heard a loud pop from the front drivers side suspension area. Ever since then, my steering wheel is a little off. I have to keep it slightly (+4 degrees to the left or so) tilted left to go straight. Any thoughts?

The air ride bolts etc look the same, and the car does not drive any different. Is this a problem with the tie rod or steering or something else because of the added stress from being lowered?

Any input would be appreciated. I can't get to my mechanic until next week, so I am only concerned whether it is safe to drive it or not. I really only notice the steering being off. The car drives and handles the same.

Thanks!

Sounds like something with the tie-rod to me. But I'm not a mechanic. If you can't see anything obviously wrong, and the car acts the same, it's probably ok til you can get it checked out.

so should I be driving or not? I think it may be the tie rod as well... but are there any other signs I should be looking out for when driving? Does it make any sounds etc? Cause I don't notice anything different besides the steering position.

What should I be looking out for?

Thanks for the help so far guys!
