I have 99 gt 2.4 , 102,000km , the gas tank is leaking, just like to know is this a common problem , it looks like it is leaking around the seam. It looks like I'm going to buy a new tank, is thier any tips when removing tank or other parts that I will need before I start.

it could be your sending unit, I'm not sure if that year is steel unit or not. Ether what the tank does have to come down. i would pull the tank before you get parts if you have another car.

To drop the tank disconect the filler hose and vent hose.
unplugg the electrical connector.
disconnect the the pressue, return, and evap hose.
There maybe one more evap hose(not 100% sure).
put a jack under the tank and put pressure on the tank.
remove straps and lower it.

pretty easy after you have done a hundred or so.

hope that helps

Just had mine replaced on my '97 2.2. I believe it is a common problem especially if the car is driven a lot since steel tends to rust.
