Leak around the fuel injector
Wednesday, April 06, 2005 4:45 PM
I don't know if this is possible or not but here goes...

I have a fuel leak around what I believe to be one of the fuel injectors. When I pop the hood I see gasoline dripping on the intake. Next to where the automatic transmission dip stick is located there is an electrical plug...grey in color...with two wires. The gasoline is dripping around the plug. (This is the fuel injector right??)

I would like to know how I can fix this problem before it becomes a fireball. Is there a seal that goes around the injector? Does the injector screw into the engine or something?

This is on a '95 Cavalier with the 2.2 litre engine/auto.

Thanks in advance.

I justed checked www.transportcanada.ca web site for recalls, and thier is a recall for this problem, but it's for 1996, you could take a chance and goto dealer see if they will cover it.

Each injector has 2 rubber o-rings on it, one is probably bad. Its not an easy job to replace though, since for the 2.2 you have to take the intake manifold off. If you are going to do it yourself, please replace them all, not just the one injector's rings. The rings are really cheap and available at just about any auto parts store.
