Spraying Antifreeze???

Ok I really need some help here if at all possible...Car is a 97 cav 2.2

I started getting the low engine coolant light under excelleration about a month ago, so easy fix, time to add some fluid, so i top it off, and all good.

About 2 weeks later....get the same thing again...got me thinking why it was happeneing this quick, so look for leaks, dont really see anything, so i top it off again.

this past week, i keep getting the light, so i add some more, and in the morning, i notice i have a puddle under the car, GREAT, look under the hood, and this little thing (pic #1) is spraying, and even getting on the hood liner, and little plastic cover on the top of the radiator (pic #2)

Pic #1

Pic #2

Any able to tell me what this is leaking ( i know nothing about engines.....except how to change the ALT, i can do that in about 15 min start to finish)

And how hard of a fix will this be? I was gonna get some of the stop leak stuff, but didnt wanna skimp out and do it the cheap way if it wasnt gonna be a perminant fix

looks like your lower radiator hose has a small puncture in it, i could be wrong but this happened to my 2001 2.2. I have bad engine mounts which i will be replacing this week but because of the bad mounts the AC compressor would hit the hose when ever the engine moved....eventually cuasing a leak. With the car cold so you dont burn yourself stick youor arm down there and follow the be lower hose feel for a hole some where. When that happened to my hose i got the same problem...spraying antifreeze. SO if your engine mounts are bad you should change them....i have had to change my water pump, and both radiator hoses becuase of my bad mounts....ERRRRRRR

Hi Marty

just a little tip that might be worth while-I had it demonstrated once by a tow truck driver.

If you grab hold of the top hose a squeeze it rapidly you should see the leak position as the coolant squirts out of the pinhole, whichever hose the leak is in.

.This works best if the coolant is hot but mine had cooled down for an hour and it was still easy to see where the hole was as the coolant gushed out. a new hose fixed it.

Good luck

For a temporary stop-leak fix, and ONLY if you plan on replacing all coolant fluid within 1k miles, crack an egg into your radiator.

For a more perminent stop-leak fix, buy a tube of Coolant system stop-leak available at any auto store, even wal mart. Its a small tubish can, about the size of a prescription drug bottle.

If its a small hole that @!#$'ll do it for ya. If not, you may need to replace the hose. And if you do need to replace the hose, you will need to flush and replace fluid, in which case the egg method would work for ya for now.

NEVER PUT AN EGG IN THE COOLING SYSTEM, yes it will work, and f up your radiator,,, not to mention, you only put the egg white in (as the trick goes) i can't believe it was even said,
