Possible clutch problem??
Friday, April 15, 2005 4:19 PM
Yesterday while I was driving I went to shift into 3rd and it started grinding (yes I did have the clutch pushed all of the way in). After that I tried a few things and it seems like when I downshift and let out on the clutch slowly sometimes it will just clunk into gear (not smooth at all). I am not worried abt the trany cause it does it in every gear. Please help with any opinions. I have a 2002 2.2L 5sp w/ 70K. Also if it is the clutch any ideas on how much a new one would be to get and have installed?? Thx.

before giving the idea that his tranny is shot, tell him to do the regular cehck up.

check the tranny oil level, check the clutch fluid level, check the bushing on the shifter arm in the center console. Check the cable to be sure they are correctly mount on the tranny.

Check all that and come back.
