what do they look like my tech skool might have one

they are small round plastic pieces there is usually 5 or 6 different sizes your teacher will know what they are alot of vehicles have them.
ive never seen ones like that before but they could be the same thing im sure the store would know
I had that problem with my GMC truck's filter. I took some snips and cut the extension that the release goes into. The part i cut is replaced with the filter anyway, so no damage done that's not fixed with the replacement. After getting it off, i cleaned the release clip with WD-40 and some steel wool. Worked like a champ.

Man it must have been there since it was new. I'd clip the fuel filer "nipple" off with some side cutters after soaking it with WD-40 liberally. Then use the needle nose pliers to work it out with some more WD-40.
DO NOT use any cutter that makes sparks, no toasty roasty action.
looked at it before. i now how to get it off i just cant get it off no matter what i try. Will i be able to pull it out if i cut the filter off? i need the car and dont want to be stuck with a cut off filter and no way to get it off.
