Hi all,
I have a '99 Sunfire GT 2.4L, and I failed the emissions test due to high Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx). I've spent the last three days looking for the EGR valve until I read here I may not have one.
First, would someone be able to direct me to a picture or definative information about whether I should have an EGR valve or not?
Secondly, how would I clean the EGR system on this car?
Thanks!
how do u know that the EGr is the problem? It could be the Cat or car might need a tune up, or bad O2?

I'm not certain it's the problem, it just seems like a good place to start. There are no codes being thrown.
Previous owner had a tune-up done not too long ago; my scantool shows the oxygen sensors switching okay; and if the 02 sensors are okay I'm presuming they would set a code for cat inefficiency.
try a bottle of dry gas. worked wonders for my english teacher... lol seriously though.
EGR vavle should through a code like mine did....280$ egr vavle later it was fine... fire it up shortly w/out the valve on it if its dirty then carbon will fly outt. oughta do it
