High idle 2000 GT Sunfire

I am having a problem with my 2.4 GT It is having problems with the idle. I have tried to replace the IAC switch and the MAP sensor with no luck. I have also checked for any codes and it has none. When I start the car it races up to around 2000-2500 and slowly goes down to around 1200. I have also noticed that if I set the IAC switch to make contact with the manifold the first start it runs fine. Once I turn the car off and restart the car it goes abck into the high idle issue.
Can anyone give me some good advise?

Thanks, JB

Make sure no one touched the idle speed screw on the throttle body. If they did you'll need a scan tool to run the "set idle speed" procedure. Next I would check the wiring harness to the IAC. If you're grounding the harness and the idle comes around then I'd say that there's a problem in the plug or you may actually have an ECU problem. Either way you'll need the scan tool to see what the ECU is sending to the IAC.
