Load resistors
Monday, February 13, 2012 2:04 PM
I just installed Red LED lights for my Tail Lights/Brake/Signal Lights on my 97 Cavalier Coupe and of course as expected...get the fast blinking signal lights.
Everything else about these lights works just fine though....

My question is....do I need to be concerned about the lights because of the fast signal blinking? such as...could damage be done if I don't shell out a few more bucks for the load resistor? I dont care if they blink fast or not

chances are you'll get pulled over for it. the quick flash is a warning that you have a light out, (even though you don't) and police often look for this telltale to write quick fix-it tickets.

instead of the resistors, get a flasher designed to work with LEDs. you need a ep27 style i do believe.

Are those just a relay you switch out with the stock one? The resistor is actually a few bucks cheaper

It's nothing like a relay internally. It only looks iike one. The resistors (you will need two) may be cheaper, but they do heat up and can cause damage.
