Hey fellow JBO....^^*

I'm from the EAST...

I have 95 Cavalier 2.3 and replaced the intake with aftermarket one.

now I need to register my car in CA and they say I have to replace the intake to stock one for the test..

Does anyone know where I can get that part of anyone willing to borrow me one? so that I can use it for few days? I'm sure there are few peeps who does exchange them after tests as I'm planning to do...

Let me know guys... I live in Irvine, CA

HELP ME OUT!!! THX

Thats odd, I never heard of someone having to do that, you should double check the laws. Anyways, you can probably get one for cheap at a local salvage yard, if no one lets you borrow theirs.

Re: HELP, In need of borrowing INTAKE ASSEMBLY (st

it all depends on the shop , but chances are greater youll fail the visual , due to parts not being CARB APPROVED

if it aint CARB APPROVED , they can fail it with out blinking a eye

Re: HELP, In need of borrowing INTAKE ASSEMBLY (st

the intake itself doesn't affect the smog. however, in CA an aftermarket intake has to have a CARB approval to be legal. if you go to a smog shop with an intake that isn't CARB approved, the smog tech. legally SHOULD report you to the DMV. not all do though. same is needed if you get pulled over by the cops and they make you pop the hood. if you don't have the CARB approval you'll get a ticket for an "illegal device" under the hood and "tampering with emissions devices." ...or something like that.

GO PATS!!!

Wow, Thx guys for your troubleshooting... lol

and yes, good luck finding stuff for 2.3, I could not find anything in Whole OC junk yards..

Also the smog tests will not even let me do test saying it's illegal to have it and they will not test it w/ it...

pic of my intake is located in my cardomain http://www.cardomain.com/ride/319934/3

that URL takes right to it and it's the first picture.

The dealer said it'll cost me 350 for that part.... SO STUPID!!!!!!

Well, any real realistic help will be greatly appriciated... plus I'm little out of time as well..

anyways, good luck to me... and I see there's a meet in Long Beach... I'll try to see you there.

I smogged the 2.4 at a gas station. With an intake. They didn't say anything about it. It had no carb # on it. I live in santa ana/tustin.

You can't vent the oil/air separator into the atmosphere and the the intake needs CARB numbers to be legal. Now some shops may not give two @!#$s, but they are supposed to. If yer going to go to the Hooters meet tomorrow you might want to have Tom show you where he went and try that place. I doubt there's a carb legal intake for 95.

It could be the same, but you could look for a 95 Grand Am also.

well i went to the most ghetto ass place i could find and they wouldnt even smog the car with my aem with the carb sticker!?!?! they were like nooo we dont even fool with those. Anyways i went to the nice ritzy smog place next that knew what the hell he was doing and smoged me no problem. In CA u have to have everything carb approved like intakes, header, exhaust etc... if it isnt u fail the visual and cops can write u tickets. Welcome to the world of california

if you still have the black box on your tb like in that pic you might be able to modify the tube for the 2.4 to work , the airfilter box is the same

so you might have to just find the tube from the 2.4 , since youll have to modify it

I'm pretty sure that AEM makes a smog legal intake for the 96. I got mine at ANDY"S AUTOSPORT (and no I dont work for them). Mine is 2004 Ecotec but they also make it for older models. just puttin' in my 2 cents.

95 had the HO style (actually the LO) intake manifold. There is NO CARB legal aftermarket intake for the 95.

J no go on getting the CARB sticker for you. I'm still looking into finding a shop for you.
