Fiberglass work, I.C.E. Installs (video, sounds, etc...), Body Kit Install, Hood installs, Any and all lighting, underbody lighting, engine dress-up kit installs, Intake installs, Regular Maintenance, Gauge Face replacement, and more.

I'm pretty confident in being able to rip anything apart and put anything back together.

I can change suspension parts, most anything around an engine, half the things on the engine, nothing inside the engine. Done stereos, etc.

I'm a damn good linux administrator, perl/cgi programmer by profession (my website is bigger than your website )...... used to be a damn good tech, too. Can edit videos and photoshop decently.

ok, so i have been on a quest to intall my shift light. ive been going by what people have said on this forum and tired two different wires. But neither worked so i disconnected the spliced in wire that supposedly goes to a tach terminal. So today on my way to frys my speedo starts jumping around and randomly looking like its "off" then coming back and displaying correct speed for a while. Now is this a problem with the tach, a sensor, or did i mess something up by trying to wire in that tach? Even though the wiring is back to normal? I had everything wired back up half assed with butt connectors so i thought maybe they wernt connecting good...
So I tried a different approach. Would using silver wire instead of copper mess up some kind of resistance or something necessary for the computer? Because in an attempt to fix the problem i had to use some extension wire because the original wires became to short to soder together and heat shrink. So would that be the cause? Or should i look elsewhere? The local chevy told me 98 sunfires had cluster problems and that it was probably the proplem. They are $350 bucks off the bat to replace just for the part. ANY ideas????????????????????????????

well if u still have those but connectors on thats my guess. while butt connectors to get the signal across its pretty inefficient. and they may have been a loose fit so the speedo kept getting crazy readings.

go to a junk yard and jack a bunch of wire out of some J's to splice in.

if u dont have any good yards areound u come to rancho and go up sunrise. there is a TON and they all have LOTS of j's

naw i replaced it with sodder and heat shrink, but the wire i added to take up the space lost is a different type. Would that do it?

i woudlnt think so in other electrical situations... but i have no idea how the comp reads from the sensor.... so i guess it COULD... but again, i wouldnt really think so.

simplest thing to rule it out is to go jack soem wire from a junk yard and redo teh splices with the same wire that should be there

when i first start the car and either ptu in drive or into reverse i got CRAZY amount of vibrations (as im letting the car roll- not applying gas but in gear) only happens when i first start

also at around 45-5500 i think i hear like a tinging sound that goes away shortly before shift, normal?

man that sucks.

redo the wiring with wrieing out of another J just to make sure it was ntohign to do with your spliced wire
