Relocation to Colorado
Thursday, April 21, 2005 6:59 PM
Long story short, I am wanting to move back home to the springs, the job I'm in allows me to transfer, however colorado springs is a popular place. My boss e-mails me info on places on the western slope and gunnison is one of them, which happens to be the closest to the springs.

Now to my question, does anyone here live in or near gunnison colorado? I'm looking to get an insight on cost of living as far as apartments and whatnot and the size of the town. While im googling the @!#$ outta gunnison, im not getting exactly what i need..... so if anyone could help out, I'd be greatly appreciative!

I have scoured the internet, I dont fly.... I'm just trying to get someone whose a bit closer that might toss a rental guide in the mail for me.

Funny thing was, when we were talking about downsizing, i applied to move to montrose to avoide people here losing their job. I never got talked to because montrose numbers turned out to be low as well and they had to downsize.

Damn, Montrose is way the fuk out there. What is there, that you want to move there? Your best bet might be to look into Grand Junction or Gunnison, if not montrose. I dont know anyone on this board that lives out that way.

Actually, that Blackcav00 guys lives in GJ i think.

Yeah its out on the boonies and its a small town.... Its like this.... I work for a govt agency that has offices around the US, unfortunately, where i want to transfer to, is full. The nearest opening to where i want to transfer to, is Montrose. So I want to transfer there to get up there.... west CO is better than no CO am i right? Maybe I'll be in Montrose for a month, maybe a year, it all depends on when the springs has an opening for me to transfer to.

Check out the Daily Sentinel. That is the Grand Junction newspaper and it circulates throughout the western slope. That's the only place that I would know where to look. It'll be nice to have another JBO member in the same area code lol. I swear I have only seen maybe two or three other custom Js in the area (lots of Hondas here). If you have any more questions, give me an e-mail or something. Good luck........

rent.net has apartments in montrose but the other 2 dont have any.... and rent.net has addresses of the places, no phone numbers or e-mail or anything. I have tried everything i could think of, i finally actually found a newspaper that they have online, so im making progress.

F*&K Montrose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The few people that have viewed this post know I am trying to move back to colorado. Today after my "day off motorcycle ride" with a buddy, I got a call from my boss to come up and fill paperwork out for Montrose, CO (3.5 hours away from where i really want to be), so i go up and fill the paperwork out. An hour later my boss calls me and says, you are approved for Colorado springs (Something i had already applied for a month ago), he said he had his finger on the fax machine to fax Montrose paperwork and Colorado Springs called him!!! He tells me he needs confirmation for May the 15th.... I say hell yeah! So i will be in colorado springs by May 15th..... I guess its true.... good things happen to good people.... lol

I am going to move in with my grandma until we can find an apt close to my work. Messed up thing is..... my freakin cavy is still in the shop and they wont be done probably until after i leave.... so i have to be without it until i can take some time off to drive back and get it.

Yes Montrose is a boring town. To have any sort of fun in the area, you have to go to GJ. Although, there are nice drives down near Montrose in the San Juans. Anyways, glad you could go to Springs man. I'm still the only JBO member on the Western Slope that I know of.............

Well, I am glad to hear that it worked out for you. I know us Northern Denver folks try to make a meet in the Springs during the summer time and get together and have a good time. Hopefully we will be doing one this summer and we can all meet up.

Dont worry Blackcav00 you are not the only one on the western slope, there is just a few of us. See you at the track in GJ?

Nice to know there is someone else out there.... COme to think of it, I have seen your car! I think it sits in the shopping mall parking lot in West Glenwood off I-70. Anyways, it looks like the same cav and I'm pretty sure there aren't two like yours. I'll be at the next track day just to hang out, prolly won't run my car. But if you are ever down here for the races, let me know. It would be cool to meet another J person here that knows a thing or two about what they've got. By the way, did you get that hood from Lance?????

Yeah thats my car I work at Design Audio Video in the mall parking lot. I havn't seen a car like mine anywhere it sticks out like a sore thumb! I was going to get a hood from Carbon Creations but Lance sold me his Fiber Images hood for a good price, so yup I bought his hood when he bought his integra. Can you beleive that like we need another integra around here!
