Where to pick up a new 2.4
Friday, April 22, 2005 2:05 PM
Can anyone in the Phoenix area recommend a place to look for a new 2.4? Preferrably 00+. The bottom end on ym current motor is shot. The guy working on my car now says it's better to just swap a new motor in. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

I paid 450.00 from Joe and its just been sitting out back... granted it cost me liek 200 in gas money to go pick it up but I am not worried about that at all. Engine is a 2001. Complete. I would like to get 450.00 out of it but if thats not possible any fair offer will be great. Id really like to sell it soon as well.

I don't know if you guys worked that deal out or not, but just an FYI to you or anyone else in the same position, a good place to get motors for a pretty good price is woodfins.com. I don't remember what the 2.4 was going for, but a 2.2 ECOTEC with under 20,000 on it was 1K i think it was about 1200 shipped. Only catch is they'll only ship it to a business address- so if you go that route, line up a shop that'll let you come pick the motor up.

Hope that helps.

well the motors take 4 1/4 to 4 1/2

but i like to run the motor with some cheap oil and filter for about 30-40 minutes , then change the oil and the filter

because the motor sat for awhile , it helps to clean any dirt or moisture that got in to it

Aaah I see. Any recommendations on oil. I usually took my old engine to Valvoline. Been thinking about going synthetic but not sure.

i use mobil 1 , and i not sure what joe ran in the motor

but i can tell you i tried to get my 97 to toss a rod before my extended warrenty ran out , and it never gave me any problems , and i was down close to 3 qts of oil , which is usually the main cause of thrown rods in the 2.4

using the hour and minute buttons , you will enter the code # listed above the hour will change the first 2 digits , the minutes will change the 3rd @ 4th digits , then after the code is entered , hold am/fm button , time shouild display on the radio , then radio should fuction as normal keep these instructions with the code i gave you , incase you need it later

1630

you might need to do this first

turn car on(or acc) , then press buttons 2 @ 3 on your radio at the same time , and wait for a code to pop up (ie.. 123) write it down , then push the am/fm button down

then do what is posted above
