Here's the thing. A mac is realiable, easy to use, and does what you need.

Windows, while it is less reliable, is well liked for being versatile. It is as secure or insecure as you make it. It is as fast or slow as you built your machine to be. While it may do less out of the box than Apple OSX, it can do infinitely more than OSX ever will. I don't have to pay for updates, either. They just come to me. If I don't like something, I can change it. If something makes my computer slower, I can make it faster. If I don't like the shell it comes in, I can change it, too. And not to mention that the Mac obliterating monster I've almost finished building cost me 1/3 of the price of a Mac.

That out of the way, I'll be in Edmonton for the 3rd week of October. What shall I do? The wife and I aren't interested in seeing the Oilers, and we've found two Museums that aren't closed that we want to see. That fills two days out of five. One of those might be spent doing a bit of shopping at a couple of our usual places (Warp 1, the wife likes Sanctuary and Millennium at West Ed, and there are a couple other places I'm not thinking of at the moment).

WRONG!!!! what determines your speed of the computer when running windows really has nothing to do with Hardware, you get taught that in school, sure it helps, but a single core processor can run windows 7/vista/xp as as faster as any quad core can, my laptop before this one was AMD single core, 2 gig ram, Windows 7, 512mb video, and I was running faster then my dads brand new acer laptop with vision tech. what it comes down to is how you tweak the OS, you can remove just about every feature from any operating system, you can make it as stable as you want. but besides that Linux is better then both, just have to make your own drivers/programs but can run software from any os, stable, fast and gamers choice. And yes considering that was my job in Ontario was a certified computer tech, and have been beta tester for microsoft for a number of years I can speak on that, also added been fixing computers here, as alot of ppl cant afford upgrades to hardware but want operating systems like 7

But comparing the average user to people like you or I running a computer, hardware is what makes ALL the difference, because the average user isn't going to cut the fat out. They WANT things like Aero even if its a huge resource drain. The first thing I'll be doing when my computer is at the ready to go stage that most people just say "Okay, now I start going back to downloading porn and tell the wife she can play her facebook games again.", is stripping out all the useless features and unnecessary functions of Windows 7. I'll be installing the programs I use and then cutting out the features that slow down start up procedures. Updates will be installed. There will be more work once the OS is in than throwing the hardware together. I'll be testing the waters with disabled virtual memory (If I have to run it, I'll order up another SSD to use solely for the swap file).

I can bet I've been doing this as long or longer than you, so don't think I don't know what sort of tweaks can be done. Its a matter of software micro management.

Summer is sorta here. The dirt has been piled over grass, all the empty chip bags and tim cups people threw out their car windows in snow storms thinking it the perfect crime have emerged.

That being said, am I the only one that thinks less money should be spent by municipalities on sanding, and more on actual snow removal? I should take a picture of the paint ruining mess they've left just down the street from where I live.

I bet GP is worse. On the plus side, I've been saving money, and someone has a damn near pristine Gen 2 for sale. With a little luck, I may have a new toy...

I apologize for the Mac/Windows blow up... Ha. I'm a Mac user, was a Windows user for many years, I'm in the IT business, can fix almost anything Windows/Mac related, not touching Linux - but I'm definitely a Mac fan, I don't do a whole hecka lot when it comes to gaming or anything crazy like that, but my Mac turns on faster then any of my husband's machines, and runs anything I need it to, and that makes me happy! Definitely two sides to this game, and you usually aren't on both!

But on a cooler note, anyone from Southern SK going to Dodologic's Defrost?! Creating a convoy in Moose Jaw for Sunday morning!

very good deal. reg price around $800+shipping. only downside is it's the explosion kit. IMO, they're ugly unless on the right car. my friend had it on his sunfire for a while, add me to FB and you'll be able to see the pics of his and my old black car.
