Hi JB,

It's been about a year since I called for a quote but there is a shop here in Edmonton called European Auto Tinting that was going to do my three windows for $160. I never did end up going due to finances at the time, but I was thinking of calling again. They have a website that is here. Although I didn't get work done it was the work they had done on a friend's VW Jetta GLI that really impressed me. It look fabulous and was a great price.

Check them out because I think I will be again soon.

I believe it's anything goes on the rear passenger and back windows, but no tint at all on the driver's and front passenger windows.

Have you tried Supertint in Edmonton, JB? Just thought i'd suggest it since thats where I learned to tint, in my opinion has one of the best tinters, his name is John, he is deaf but his work is amazing, I think he has somewhere around 18 years of experience. Here is their website. I'd tint your windows but I live all the way up in Fort McMurray.

I second malcom's tinting. He did my car back windows and they turned out flawless. He painted my rear dot matrix b/c he knows the tint wont lay flat on the dot matrix. Cant even tell from the outside. You loose a little window on the inside but you only notice for a hour or so once it's done.

Malcolms a real good guy and treats your ride as if it was his own. I give him thumbs up.

J

To clarify, tinting IS illegal to have on any of your front windows here in Ab. The local RCMPs enlightened me on that topic recently. They'll hand you a razor blade and make you remove it on the spot sometimes. Back windows are allowable.

Just clarify even more. Yes, all rear windows are ok to tint as much at you want. Driver and passenger windows as well as front windshield theoretically can't have anything on it. According to the nice officer that ticketed me, even having clear film on the window is considered illegal. Cops in Alberta will sometimes hand you a razor blade to take it all off right there, or just key and "X" into your window with a key.

I know this thread has been dead for some time but I thought I would put some input into this topic..... I got my back 3 done 20% (looks like 5% from the outside) but doesn't distort your view back... and looks factory,.. got it done at Hi-Tech Tinting here in edmonton $230 cash... but unlike malcolms he was able to tint the dot-matrix flawlessly....
