It can't be too loud. 92 db I think.

Lowering is permitted, but the body of the car can't be lower than the lowest point on the wheel., from what I understand.

Oh and no underglow lights that are other colors than blue, red, and white. But then if they are so illegal, then why haven't i gotten a ticket for them yet, gotten pulled over countless times for them and all they do is tell me to turn em off. Stupid pigs... Oh and you have to have a front license plate, other wise they will pick you out of a crowd of hundreds of people without front license plates and give you a $150 ticket.

You can have underbody neons however the neon tube it's self cannot be visble at 20 feet away. No lights on the rear of your car other than red (excluding your tails) and no colors on the front other than white, yellow, amber, and orange.

They also look down upon having strobes on on the street.
A.15 do you have a source for that law about underbody neons? If so i'd like to see it. Cause i went over to a police HQ over here a while back and they said NO underbody lights at all. So if you know where i can find something in writing that states otherwise, please let me know!

and GreenFire, don't be dumb. You're just pissed that you got caught... sure other people were breaking the law too, but that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. And that doesn't make them "stupid pigs" for enforcing the law.

THere is a cop that answers questions on Houston-Imports.com
He said that the underbody neons are ok as long as you cant see the bulb.

Blu---DId those cops show you in the books that it was ilegal? Or did they just tell you that to get you out of there face? Alot of times cops try to make up there own laws about things they dont like. Example being neons.

I was pulled over the other day for adjusting my bags but he couldnt do sht. JUst wanted to jack with me.
I was told this by an Officer that patrols my neighborhood. I stop him every now and then and ask him questions and quirks in the system. But anyways, thats the way I found out. Just tuck them up far enough so that they can't be seen. Now I'm not sure about the 7 colors and flashing. That might be pushing it.

I'll try to find the actual law.
This is what i have come to conclude, all cops have all of their own percpective on the law about neons. I've called my town's poilce station to ask, they told me "no emergency colors, that means no red, blue, or white. I was also told no stobbing/pulsing of the neons, and the neon tubes cannot be visable. So, that would make my green ones ok, but then, when i got pulled over thursday night, he told me only red, blue, and white, he insisted that mine were the illegal color, and that he has the "texas law book" to support his claim. I told him what i had been told, becuase im pretty much confused with the idea of what actually is legal. I've never gotten a ticket reguardless, i just think they pull me over because of the sterotype that goes with them.

I honestly think he just used your neons as reason to pull you over and run your ID to see if you had warants.

When I was pulled over for playing with bags he didnt even get onto me for it.
Cop "Do you know why I pulled you over"
Me "HEHE, I have a pretty good idea"
Just asked to see my ID so he could run it. I would say that it was actualy the nicest cop ive ever delt with.

But yeah, They just need any reason to pull you over.
I was pulled over once for following to close.
I was at least 3 car lengths behind the car ahead of me .
actually each individual city can maintain thier own city ordanance. I have a texas penal code handbook and traffic regulations (required in my criminal law class) and it says nothing in particular about underbody neons. Just states that you can't have colors that could be mistaken as an emergency vehicle (unless permitted meaning you have it for emergency use: volunteer fire fighter, etc..) positioned in the front center of the vehicle. but common city ordanances state that the neon bulbs can't be visible, that means neons inside and outside of the vehicle. frankly if you ever get an actual ticket you have full right to contest it in court and you also have the right to be shown where it clearly states that. as far as exhaust goes, i really dont know because they dont do emissions where i live . i'm sure the jest of it falls under the common sense category though. but yeah, state law isnt always going to be the exact same as each city ordanance. state law allows you to carry a rifle in plain site while walking down a busy street as long as you dont point it at anyone, but some cities a cop will bust you faster than a jenny craig reject eats ice cream.
well i got pulled over the other night by the houston police dept. when he found out i work in dispatch he let me off with a warning... but when i asked the traffic enforcement division of the houston police dept they told me that you could be pulled over because of it but most likely you wont get a ticket. so im not sure if there illegal or not but out of respect i turn them off when im driving. no point of giving the police a reason to stop you.

here comes the boost!

I asked a officer sometime ago and I asked him about my neon undercarriage lights and he said as long as you can't see the tube you can't get a ticket and the officer can't get on his knees and look at them or something. so in short terms if you can't see the tubes well then it is cool and legal
