I cant run on street tires, the car will spin through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear.

275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv

Yeah, then Brian vs the wagon, both on street tires. No point too line up with a car on slicks.

See, Adler wants over 2x the boost, Full LSD, and 2X the traction, while the wagon only has 30% more displacement...

um....

everyone please take note I've had no real part in this car vs. car discussion.
i have enough entertainment just driving the wagon on the street.
did i mention i've never even raced the critter on a track before??

Have you seen the turbo wagon?

They can run for FUN! Whoever wins, wins. Unless anybody is going to put money on it who really cares the outcome and what anybody is bringing to the table. Run what yah brung and hope it's enough!

Awww come on Curtis, you are the one who is always calling me out. You are always saying that the wagon would beat me at the track. Dont back out now! I am not wanting to run for money, I want to run for fun.
The wagon also has a cam with better headwork than I do, and its a V6. I also think that the wagon put down more power than I did.

Run what yah brung, even if that means mounting your slicks on a different wheel so they can be used on the wagon.

Maybe I can finish up my car and you can run mine slicks vs slicks, hell I'll even drop the boost too 6 psi so it's equal displacement under boost.

tidbits...
the cam is mild, as is the port work.
stock internals, open diff, rated hp last autumn of 229.1 @ approx 6psi...

since i've been reading miata forums for the past few weeks/months, i guess i missed how i've suddenly gone from maybe showing up to support friends to actually racing the wagon.

it's high weirdness like this that makes me not want to even bother. i have friends running drag boats that day anyway. i can go watch that & not worry about folks bickering about my wagon.

best,
jux

Blaaaah...just put some slicks on your car so we can run each other on the 12th

i need to get some street wheels and tires before i even consider track-only tires.
...plus the miata is begging for some upkeep parts. slicks just aren't in the budget right now.
the wagon's a street car anyway. wouldn't slicks be overkill for it?

Just stick with your DR's. You may not be able to 60ft. as good with them as slicks. But with some practice they should be pretty good. IMO

Besides you need some coin left over to prep that miata for autox.

the 'vert is already perfect for tire tire class in C stock. just needs a fresh timing belt, water pump and a fresh alignment (i'm much lighter than the previous owner).
I'm curious, though, just how SCCA would class the wagon. I saw a jetta wagon running in Equip Rapide last weekend, so my interest has definitely been piqued.

Eh who knows the rule book for SCCA is HUGE. My guess is with turbo + suspension mods you would be looking at some race prepped class which would be UGLY. Just come race with the BMW club where it is run what yah brung and more importantly more laid back, you get more runs then SCCA too.

That's cus Jux never has issued a challenge.

Hey Adler, wanna run a mostly stock SRT-4??? I put it all back to stock accept for a boost controller. Stock air box, stock exhaust(I even added a muffler), stock computer, stock wastegate actuator. I'll run ya, you on slicks and me on street tires.

I might just show up if someone will run me. Otherwise I'll just lower the boost back down to 5 psi, fill up with 87 octane, and stay at home.
