Sunday, October 30, 2005 7:48 PM
I was wondering how many guys were turboed in Texas or la. And for those who are how many developed their own kit. I am thinking about boost and have been for a while learning all i can, reading corky bell as well as other sources. What i really want to know is who if anybody could also share some hands on advice as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the basis for my turbo setup was designed by GM, and very much improved by a local member.
i'm just an idiot with extra $$ and a bizarre thing for cars.

Have you seen the turbo wagon?

I had a turbo 2.2. Well I still have all of the parts, but they are off of the car now and are for sale. A friend and I put together my set up.
275hp & 306hp @ 15psi out of a 2.2 liter.

275hp & 306tq - 1999 2.2 ohv
13.2 @ 108 mph
-1996 2.4 liter + Turbo + Built motor + Torco + More boost = Lots o' Power
-2000 Mustang GT + 2004 Cobra motor, Whipple 2.3 supercharger,
built rear-end,Dodge Viper spec T56 6 speed, bolt-ons = wheelies at the track!!!!!

actually I am in the process of doing a 2.4 for am member in the club. (sajbody.org) it's a website we have down here in SA. Anyways It would be wrong for me to charge you because I don't get any special price on what I buy. But I can show you what you need and where to get it. As far as install I charge 400. Email me if you want more advice

Cool how much hp gains did u strive for and how much did you get originally. Then with the upgrades? And which turbo did you actually use?
Re: Boosted in Tx or La

it was first a t60 or super 60. That felt really good in the car then I upgraded to a t3/t4e 50trim. Has lot more lag but when I upgrade the fuel it should be strong.

Do you guys have an intercooler, upgraded plugs, and secret cams? What is some of the more important components?
Re: Boosted in Tx or La

yes small one at first then I had a custom racing intercooler built for the car. I use NKG double platnium plugs that can be bought at advance auto parts. For an ecotec it is usually the fuel you have to upgrade to run more boost and then the connecting rods to achieve the 300hp to the wheels status.

Adler, you are parting out? What's up with that?

I spent a lot. I will not disclose that amount. Part of that is, because all my parts are new, everything is custom and the other half was experimenting. Anyway, for a good setup, look into spending at least $2500. Unless you buy used, then well you won't have too spend much. Start with the basics. Get those first. Worry about the small stuff later.

It is not a good idea to use platinium plugs on a nitrous/boosted car. It would be safer to use copper plugs that are atleast 1 heat range colder than stock.

Yea, I already pulled out the built motor and turbo set up. The car is stock right now.

It is time for an upgrade....maybe a turbo V-8
