2.3 TB to 2200
Monday, March 07, 2005 3:40 PM
I was reading in the sticky that that the 2.3 tb fits the 2200. My ? is what is the difference and what would i gain from it. has anyone done this to their 2200? just asking because i have a 2.3 tb from a 95 in my garage. thanks guys

It should provide a very very small gain, considering the 2200 comes in at 52 mm, and the 2.3 has a 56 mm tb.

Since you already have it, why don't you go ahead and see if it's a direct bolt-on. I've heard from a few people that they have had to mod the tb to get it to fit.

well if i have to mod it its a waste i think i should just get a ported one. another quick question what are the best spark plugs for are cars. i know they are only sparks plugs and there not goig to give me a huge leap in hp. is the ac delco the best to go with?

yup..stick with AC Delco. You can stick with the Platinums or try the Rapid fires. Consult the AC Delco website for proper gapping.

deffinetly get that tb on there, it is worth it. the modifications to it are minimal to get it to fit. all i had to do was get a plastic vacuum teein orderr to reconnect all the 2200 vacuum lines and then grind down part of it (dont remember what it was exactly but it was hitting the manifold) so the plate could open all the way. i also replaced the manifold gasket but that may not be necessary for you. that 4mm did make a noticeable difference for me.

part of the tb had to be ground down. when you put it on, just snug up the bolts then see if the plate will open all the way, you will see where it hits unless your tb is slightly different from mine. good luck

i do have a sucking noise when the throttle is partially open and that is normal, i dont know if that is what you mean. for the bracket, it mounted the exact same way it was on the car it came off from. the brackets might be slightly different depending on if the 2.3 car had cruise control, maybe yours is different from mine
