2.4 valve train question
Sunday, March 13, 2005 7:57 PM
alright, this may make me look stupid but anyway, i have been dying to learn about this, since the 2.4 is DOHC, there is no rocker arms, so eliminating the abilty to put roller rockers on it, i know roller rockers are an AWESOME mod for the high rpms, so is there any roller system or anything like that out there for the 2.4? cuz on the 3.8 in gtp's, i know a kid that put roller rockers on his gtp and it gave him an extra 40 ponies, taht would be nice...lol, i know thats completely different, but, is there anything along those lines???????

No, the 2.4 uses hydraulic lifters, which look like little piston heads that sit under each cam lobe, and underneath is the spring.

Nothing like that available for the 2.4L's

40HP from roller rockers? Hard for me to believe. Sounds like

But anyway, just change the cams out.

i wouldnt call BS. its a 3800 supercharged motor. so he puts in roller rocker arms, at a 1.6 ratio, which would not only reduce friction, but also increase valve lift. he could easily pick up 40 hp with a mod like that. did you forget that mr chinchilla?

DOH! Forgot about the ratio changing the lift. I never even thought of that. Ok, I'll admit it is possible...just not on the 2.4L.
