um maybe someone can correct me but i dont believe your car makes any power above your rev limit...it your car makes its maximum amount of power at 6000 rpm why would you want to go higher? even if theres is more room rev

Sorta off subject, whats the revlimiter for the LD9? Redline of course is around 6k, but ive had it a little over before, maybe around 6500 or so while shifting, which is where i thought it was supposed to be at, but no boucing, and i didnt wanna rev it higher to find out.

as far as i know, you're only option is sending the ECU to J-Body Performance to have them reflash it with an increased rev limiter... RSM might be able to help too, and I hear there's the new Emanage Ultimate that has rev/speed limiter modification programmed in, but i don't know if it will work on j-bodies until someone installs it and tries.

With your mods, if your car is running anything like PJ(TheFlyingSkwirl)'s car, then yes, you could probably stand to get another few hundred rpm out of it. I definitely wouldn't try revving above 6100/6200 without custom (stronger) pushrods, better lifters, and a balanced bottom end. PJ's car will hang dead even with an eco until the very top of 3rd gear and into 4th, where their longer powerband helps them better use their gearing.

I thought the LD9 stopped making power around 6250

mine tops out at 6250, and I have the 2200, auto.(soon to be the Eco) most J's aren't making that much power at that RPM without power adders like FI.

the LD9 has more power so the rev limiter is higher

Mine stops at 6300rpm. Acording to gm all 3rd gen cars cut a 6300. however the tac in the 3rd gen is not the most acurat thing out there. They can read 100-300 rpm more or less then the car is actualy doing.

well it is a DOHC motor with twice the amount of valves. it's going to rev higher.

I've accidentally hit 7K with my 2.4L LD9 in first gear, how is that possible with all the talk about a rev limiter?

If you were driving around in 5th going 60 and slammed it into 2ed, you'd go a lot higher than 7k and no, that rev limiter wouldn't do a damn thing to stop that. Rev limiting isn't just cutting spark, and on top of that, stock rpm guages arn't always 100% correct.

I'd like to know where it is on the LD9... I have a 98 z24, and I haven't ever hit the rev-limit. I've hit the top speed limit at around 107 mph, but never hit the rev-limit in any gear. I usually shift @ no more than 6000... but I know i've gone close to 6500 before...

everytime ive hit the limiter [only been about 3 times on purpose, maybe twice accidentally] its cut out at exactly 6.5k, 01 Z, but the sc stops making power after about 6k, so i only do it in 1st maybe 2nd, but usually shift sooner than that, maybe 6.2k when racin or whatever. but yea the only times ive hit it it cut out where its s'posed to

I hit my rev limiter by accident one time. In second gear I believe it's around 7200.

mine is at 6500, you have an auto trans???

Re: rev limiter!!

the rev limiter is set at 6450

and like some one said the tach isnt the most accurate

and if you need more rpm than the factory setting , you are at the point were a stand alone is your best option
