I mean....how many engines has gm come out with that have metal intake manifolds?
just cause its attached to the head doenst mean its gonna get hotter. Look at the
Ho intake manifold....or the intake manifolds on the 3.1 all the way to the 3.8. I know some 3.8 have plastic but some do have metal.

I should have just kept my mouth shut on this intake mani and let all you pazies crying out for a new intake manifold just keep crying about it.

It came off a production car.....didnt have problems as it is still being used on the car. it came off an 05. But to sit here and bash it is crap.

I thought it was pretty cool.....

I think its a great solution for the fuel pudlding issue in Eco's, and it does look nifty as hell.......

I'll probably just stick to the plastic though. Im not going big for a while yet, so no need for more strength from my intake mani.

Great info BTW, steping up and doin mods that others wouldnt try. RESPECT.

Looks nice, would probabally be better for port matching than the stock plastic one. I think most the Honda motors use aluminum intakes.

if heats an issue while you have it off build a quick plastic box around it and keep dry ice in it while at the track

the good part....its about 250 bucks.....55352121
bad part........you can only get it through a saab dealership...part number does not work at a chevy dealer.....and its a 3-4 week wait to get one because no one in the us has it in stock. It has to come from sweden. And i WOrk at a chevy dealership and have a friend who works at a saab dealership so the info is right.

Roy, the intake manifold, part number 55-352-121, is $153.00, is a
special order part, of which there is 1 available in the country.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Thank you for the inquiry,

but i suppose if its of no benefit on our motors then oh well haha would be a nice custom show piece though

so how much is it? 150 or 250? are the ports any bigger then the stock plastic one?

Ok, all the bitching aside. Are the ports any bigger. If the ports are'nt any bigger, I dont see any advantage unless your on n2o, or you just want it to look nice. I dont think the amount of heat soaked will make any real diffrence. But thats just me.

Oh well I will find out I just ordered one from Saab and I already have a stock one here at my parts department that I can compare it to.

Alright guys I just got the manifold in.(quicker than I expected) Anyhow I took a quick measurement with a tape measure and the ports are definitely larger. I will get a micrometer and let you precise stock manifold and the saab manifold differences.

Well not very precise I only had a dial indicator to use, but here are the results. Stock intake was 4 & 6/10 x 2 & 9/10 where as the Saab intake was 4 & 7/10 x 3cm. Hope that is helpfull. I don't know what the difference is between the stock intake and the head but as you see it is pretty minimal as far as the port sizes on the stock and Saab intake.

So the aluminum intake has slightly bigger ports than the plastic?

Is it possible to post some pics of the two, side by side?

What about the intake port where it connects to the throttle body, can you give a diameter on that?

Snowman, this is a great find. I might actually add this to the "ECOTEC Build Guide"

Are you still selling yours?

Get them flow tested. if possible. That's the only way to see if there is a gain possible.

i might be beating a dead horse, but has anyone actually dyno tested these to see any difference whether na, boost or n2o?

now that i know it will bolt right up to the eco i am getting one even if it doesnt have a big difference from the stock one it would look better polished up than the ugly black plastic one

boost is like ice cream, there's always room for it

Not the saab mani, but certainly another option. Some of you guys have already seen this, but maybe some haven't. Sorry no dyno numbers to post yet. I do know what you guys are talking about with the heat though. After cruising around for a little while this thing does get pretty hot.
