1.6 Rockers & Pushrods?
Sunday, October 25, 2009 3:59 PM

Will I need to buy different pushrods when I do the 1.6 rocker conversion on the 2200? And if so, where can I buy them?

Thanks.

no different size required.

I thought for best results you needed to measure & order custom-made ones? You been to tell me the whole swap for 1.6's on a 2200 are more bolt-on than we thought? Or is the re-size only really necessary if we were to step-up to 1.65's on the 2200?

Go beyond the "bolt-on".

i think you're thinking of when ppl use the older 2.2 valvetrain components on the 2.2. if just using the new rockers, nothing needed. just gotta adjust it yourself.

I was thinking in terms of geometry, actually....

doubt the 2200 is different, but i just took off my old rockers, and bolted on the 1.6 roller tipped ones. grinded the guides a bit, but otherwise, no big todo.

The 2200 can use the stock pushrods as long as you tighten them down right.
On my setup I got custom pushrods because I got a new cam, new longer, thicker valves, new LS1 springs, retainer and locks.
But I made mine work and it awesome.

Okay guys... Since we're on the subject, what's the proper way to adjust them (With stock & modded lifters, etc...)?

ok well first of all, make sure you have everything lined up in the valve train assembly.
this is what i did with the hybrid lifters, but im sure this will work with stock valve train as it is much weaker.

1. remove spark plug from cyl #1.
2. place finger over spark plug hole and rotate crank assy (need 2 people).
3. this will help you find top dead center, when there is pressure behind your finger, remove it and shine a flash light into the cyl thru the spark plug hole, and continue going to the top of the stroke and stop.
4. once at top dead center, you can torque the rockers down for cyl #1.
5. place rocker on rocker stud and make contact with valve stem and pushrod.
6. place lock nut on rocker stud and tighten till it touches the rocker body with no force.
7. next, tighten the nut 2 complete rotations and set lock nut
8. cyl #1 is done
9. continue doing the same thru the firing order on the engine.

Where is the best place to buy these rockers from? I know they're everywhere, just wondered if you guys had any insight on customer service, price, etc.

I have had nothing but prompt spectacular service from COLE at Comp Cams!
He is a great guy and helped me with my custom turbo cam re-grind and
many other things for my engine build!

Call him!

Does he have a specific number or should I just call sales and ask for him?
